In case there are still questions about this: legal cannabis is safer for adults, and help protects our youth and communities. 🌿 Newly published results of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) survey show that teen #marijuana use has fallen over the past decade as more states enact legalization. This contradicts the fears stoked by prohibition proponents that legalization would increase youth consumption. This is down 6% from 2013. Notably, "male students showed a more marked drop in marijuana use over the past decade, with rates falling from 25 percent in 2013 to 15 percent in 2023. 🌿 We were pleased to offer public comment to the Drug Enforcement Administration, in support of the Department of Justice’s proposal to transfer marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act.  Marijuana should never have been classified as a Schedule I drug and rescheduling would be historic, marking the most significant drug policy reform in more than 50 years. This shift in classification would acknowledge accepted medical use, help evolve our understanding of this plant through increased clinical research, and offer positive economic impact in communities across the US. We hope to see the federal government take further steps to fully deschedule marijuana and establish a federally-regulated framework for commercial cannabis cultivation, manufacture, distribution, testing, sale, and advertising. 👉 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ghjbRFKf
