We are changing the way the world treats women.
About us
WE ARE CHANGING THE WAY THE WORLD TREATS WOMEN. Women are different, right from the beginning. But until 1992, when we were founded, there wasn’t even a research institute dedicated to women’s issues. Today, Magee-Womens Research Institute is solving real world problems and impacting lives—in the fields of cancer, heart disease, fertility, HIV, Alzheimer’s and more. But the potential is boundless. Anything is possible when the country’s largest women’s research institute partners with a world-class women’s hospital.

Imagine you're a patient who just had minimally invasive surgery for gynecologic cancer. You might stay longer in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) if you have certain risk factors. But what are they? A new retrospective review led by Magee-Womens investigator Dr. Sarah Taylor offers insights into these risk factors, including older age, non-partnered status, and having a higher ASA class (or a greater number of co-morbidities). Identifying patients at risk for prolonged length of stay in the PACU may allow for interventions to improve patient experience, better utilize hospital resources, decrease PACU overcrowding, and limit postoperative admissions and complications. 🔗 Read the full study here: https://bit.ly/3WhkDty
