Meet David Klatt, Senior Director, Culture, Inclusion & Belonging David Klatt came to the NHL eager to help the League grow the game on social media. As David grew in his role, so did the social media team. What began as a team of six in 2017 is now up to nearly 30 talented individuals with an expansive network of Live Social Contributors across North America. Following six years of work in coordination with social media leaders across 32 Clubs, the NHLPA, and agents, David took on a new role in 2023 as the Senior Director of Culture, Inclusion & Belonging. David now leads the NHL's internal efforts to increase the company's capacity to practice inclusion and create a greater sense of belonging for all employees from all backgrounds in the United States and Canada. His transition follows three years of impactful work as an ERG leader and vocal advocate for inclusion at the NHL. During this time, he spearheaded numerous initiatives to grow the company's inclusivity and diversity. David guides leaders of the NHL's five employee resource groups (ERGs) as they develop programming to serve growing communities and inspire change in coordination with the Inclusion Steering Committee. NHL employees build belonging across 5 ERGs: Women, Hockey In Color, PRIDE, G.O.A.L. (Growth, Opportunity, Achievement, Leadership), and Mental Health + Wellness. The NHL hopes to introduce new ERGs in the future. In 2021, David launched the NHL 5K Run/Walk series to connect employees who enjoy lacing their shoes up at any speed together after work or virtually on their own time. More than 150 NHL employees have participated, and the event has expanded to include employees across the NHL’s 32 Clubs, most notably during the League’s annual Club Business Meetings. David also co-leads a weekly conversation series called Wellness Wednesdays with colleague Valentina Arena, which is open to all employees seeking to reduce mental health stigma at work.
