At NMI, we're proud to be a remote-first organization. As our CEO Vijay Sondhi points out, there are benefits and challenges that come with remote working. However, we believe that people are their best when they can bring their full selves to work. That's why we strive to offer both remote and in-person work opportunities so NMIers can do their best in the space they're most comfortable in. Moving to a remote-first mindset has allowed us to expand and attract outstanding global talent. We have the best team in the industry, and we're proud of everything our NMIers have accomplished! 🎉 🎉 If you'd like to join our dynamic and growing team, take a look at our current job listings on LinkedIn to apply. #Fintech #Payments #CompanyCulture
Transforming Payments as CEO of NMI | FinTech Native | Conscious Leadership | Family, Cycling, and Skiing
NMI is an international, remote-first company. We have employees around the globe, from North America and Europe to Australia, South Africa, and beyond. By adopting a remote-first approach to hiring, we’ve grown our talent base exponentially, enabling us to find high achievers, offer greater customer experiences and develop industry-leading payment solutions. However, we haven’t always been remote-first. In fact, getting to this point has been quite the journey. Before the pandemic until 2019, our goal was to hire talent around our then three main offices (Chicago, Bristol UK, and Salt Lake City). We would only hire in these locations. If we found talent elsewhere, we would ask them to relocate. If they were unwilling to, then we would move on — often at the expense of passing up extraordinary people. Like many other businesses, when COVID-19 hit, we quickly transitioned into a remote-first environment. At the time, I remember reading articles from the Wall Street Journal and other publications talking about how CEOs would have to quickly learn how to manage a remote workforce and how challenging that proposition seemed. For me, moving to a remote-first environment didn’t seem insurmountable. Instead, it felt like an opportunity. Without having to worry about daily commutes or the stress of coming into the office, our team was more productive than ever. We even acquired two businesses, USAePay and IRIS CRM (now part of our core offerings). Soon, we decided to prioritize talent over location in our hiring process, and that opened the doors to an entirely new set of potential NMIers. Suddenly, we had a tremendous upgrade in the size and breadth of our talent pool. It was a huge win for NMI. Since moving to remote-first, we’ve grown our workforce, celebrated two more acquisitions (Agreement Express and Sphere Commerce Commercial division), and launched a variety of industry-leading payment solutions. Now, that doesn’t mean that remote working comes without its challenges or that in-person connections aren’t important (I’ll write more about that in another post). But, hiring with a remote-first mentality has helped our organization grow and evolve in more ways than I can count. What are your thoughts on remote working? Is your organization remote-first? Or have you adopted a more blended approach? Let me know in the comments! #Fintech #CompanyCulture
