Our partners at @cityofhope have the opportunity to host a panel discussion at SXSW and need your vote to make it happen! The panel they're proposing would focus on equitable care for those living with cancer, advocating for government intervention to make care more accessible for all, especially marginalized communities. Among the proposed panel members is our CEO Gary Puckrein. Let's work together to bring this to life at SXSW. Voting is open now until August 18th! Visit https://lnkd.in/eY8pc9ky to vote.

Last weekend, we brought the team (Akeia Blue, MPH, MS, Marilyn Prempeh, Dane White, Leslie Zuniga, and Shantia Horsford, MBS) and our sponsors out to Oakland, California at Hope Center Church for another mini-health clinic! We had a great turnout, with community members coming by for BMI screenings, behavioral health consultations, blood pressure checks, and more. Thanks to our partners, we were able to also offer free food, a Zumba class, henna art, and face painting. Thanks to Baywell Health Community, National Kidney Foundation, San Francisco State University, and Gilead Sciences for their support!

Yesterday, Vice President Kamala Harris announced that the Biden-Harris Administration is proposing the first-ever national health and safety standards for maternity care in hospitals. This will aim to ensure that mothers across America receive quality pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. We're excited to explore how this can positively impact maternal safety for marginalized communities and we're hopeful for its enforcement.

Our Center for Sustainable Health Care Quality and Equity conducted a nationwide initiative to promote vaccine equity from August 2023 to March 2024. We partnered with clinics, pharmacists, churches, stylists, and barbers in 25 states to increase access to and awareness of COVID-19, flu, and other adult vaccines. Our work included educating community members about vaccines and their availability, debunking myths, and connecting community members to pharmacists who administered vaccines at community events. We're proud to share that our efforts led to 175,102 vaccinations during the 2023-2024 respiratory virus season, including almost 10,000 COVID-19 vaccines at mobile or pop-up sites.
