  • Workforce shortages plague many industries these days. At North Country Community Mental Health, we are proud of our innovative career initiatives and our success in hiring and keeping staff. Recently, Brian Babbitt, our visionary CEO, was asked to share about our career initiatives as part of a panel at the 2024 Michigan State of Reform Health Policy Conference. He spoke about our sign-on, referral, and retention bonuses, participation in student loan and tuition reimbursement programs, and our robust internship program. He also explained our partnership with Pine Rest to train fellows in child psychiatry. “Our medical director trains three fellows a year for child psychiatry, so we get three extra fully-licensed psychiatrists one day a week. This arrangement increases our capacity to see children, and hopefully in the long run, will increase the number of child psychiatrists that are available in Michigan.” Check out our current vacancies at norcocmh.org/careers
