We are so happy to have Ashley Smith as a part of our team at the Northern Kentucky Water District.
Ashley Smith had spent her career in the barbering industry, earning both cosmetology and barbering certificates. She went on to serve clients at multiple hair salons, becoming a manager along the way before eventually turning into an entrepreneur and opening her own shop. Ashley was an expert at fostering client loyalty with both great techniques and small business operations savvy. 15 years into the work, Ashley started developing allergies to products and had to pivot in a different direction. Ashley visited the Kentucky Career Center for help where she heard Career Navigator at KCPL Alisha Copley speak. Alisha started coaching Ashley on how she could turn her organizational, time management, scheduling, communications and point-of-sale transaction skills into another role. Ashley attended many classes at KCPL, including the Transferable & Core Skills Workshops, VIA Strengths Workshop, Exploring O*Net Online and Using Personality Assessments to help her see herself in a new way. Deciding to move into account management, Ashley got really excited after taking Karen Cornelissen’s class on The Art of Job Search Correspondence because it gave her the guidance she needed to target specific openings. As Ashley started preparing for interviews, she took instructor Steve Tracy’s advice and created a portfolio to showcase her skills to each employer. Ashley has landed at the Northern Kentucky Water District as an Account Service Representative. We are so happy for you, Ashley!
