  • For more than 25 years, The Hershey Company team has worked hand-in-hand with our team to provide hope for children who have suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect. During that time, thousands of children and teens found a safe place of healing at the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter. Thank you to the Hershey team for their unwavering support and commitment to the kids in our care! #givehope #30yearsofhope #Hershey

  • Andrew Pierce and his team at Amazon chose our kids to benefit from their monthly team and company donation! We were thrilled to receive a trunk full of much-needed items from our needs list. As you can imagine, when providing 24/7 care for hundreds of children each year, we go through a lot of supplies! Every donation from our needs list helps us save our limited budget and apply those funds toward additional programs for the kids. HUGE thanks to Andrew and his team!

  • Thanks to a partnership with the NWA Hispanic Leadership Council and through the Latinx on the Rise Internship Program, we had the privilege of welcoming Hileana Huerta and Kelly Martinez-Ramirez to our team for the summer. Hileana, a Psychology/Spanish/Biology triple major at the U of A, was instrumental in ensuring our summer program for the kids was creative and fun while also meaningful and trauma-informed. Kelly, a Graphic Design major at the U of A, completed several large design projects for our marketing and development teams - including the program for our upcoming Vintner Dinner and our 2025 partnership opportunity packet. Hileana and Kelly were both a joy to work with! We're grateful to the NWA Hispanic Leadership Council for making connections between non-profits and students seeking experience. Thank you, Hileana and Kelly, for all of your hard work this summer in support of our kids! University of Arkansas #latinxontherise

  • Our Volunteer Spotlight is on Robbie Cellier! Robbie grew up on a dairy farm in Ontario, CA, and graduated from high school in 2010 at the peak of the recession. "My family had very little means," said Robbie. "Which meant I had to fend for myself when it came to college. That was a huge goal for me." After attending community college, Robbie went to California State Dominguez Hills which is a university founded specifically for marginalized and underprivileged students in the Greater Los Angeles area. "I was more than grateful that those systems existed for me when I was in a time of need and I have always wanted to give back for that," said Robbie. "Volunteering at the Shelter has been a great way to do that." After finishing college, and in the middle of the 2020 pandemic, he moved to NWA. For eight years, Robbie worked in custom picture frames, creating career shadow boxes for retiring service members. He then branched out into the service industry, working in events and management at Theo's and The Preacher's Son. Robbie is now eagerly awaiting the opening of Hardwater Bar - Bentonville, where he will be tending bar. From a dairy farm to the restaurant industry, Robbie is no stranger to hard work, so he feels at home volunteering in our kitchen, quickly becoming a favorite of our culinary team. Robbie pitches in with everything from dishwashing to food prep, but particularly enjoys serving the kids their meals during lunch time. "I have enjoyed making faces at some of the younger kids!" Robbie shared. "We exchange wild faces across the dining room and laugh." Thank you to Robbie for giving your time so freely in support of our kids and staff. We appreciate you! To become a volunteer with the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter, please contact Marlo Hamilton-Klenke at mhamilton@nwacs.org. Robert Cellier
