When Nestor Rojas was seriously injured in a car accident, his lack of insurance didn’t limit his access to care. We’re proud to support organizations like Family Health Partnership Clinic, which removes barriers to care for people without health insurance. #NMBetter

At Northwestern Medicine, we believe that what makes us better, makes our patients better. The Basic Nursing Assistant (BNA) Training Program is designed to do just that. This 16-week program, offered at no cost to Northwestern Medicine employees, provides certified nursing assistant (CNA) training and opens doors to clinical roles in health care. External candidates can also join the program, which offers a payment plan. Tacora Love, MSN, RN, CMSRN, a Northwestern Medicine program director and nurse educator who helped create the BNA Training Program curriculum, says the program can serve as an introduction to a variety of careers in health care. “What’s really great about this program is that once you get your CNA certification, it can help you become a patient care technician at Northwestern Medicine and even set you up for nursing education in the long run,” she says. “I’m really proud of the program we’ve built, and I truly believe it can be replicated at health systems across the country to help create a pipeline to nursing that will assist with the impending nursing shortage.” Applications for this program open August 5.
