Oceantic Network is back on the road this week for the latest leg of our U.S. offshore wind jobs tour. This time, we followed industry activity to the heart of New York, visiting key supply chain companies in Albany and outside of Buffalo. Through our stops, we followed the story of U.S. steel. Procured from states like Kentucky and Pennsylvania, the steel is brought to LJUNGSTRÖM in New York to be cut, shaped, and welded into the components needed to build offshore wind turbines. Along the way, U.S. suppliers such as Technostrobe Offshore Solutions and others provide lighting, cables, electrical housing, anodes, fasteners, and so many other small but critical components. Ultimately, these pieces make their way East to the banks of the Hudson River, where union workers with Riggs Distler are finalizing the advanced foundation components for Sunrise Wind, Orsted’s project off the coast of Long Island.   At each stop, the Oceantic team (CEO Liz Burdock, Sr. Writer & Content Creator Carley Milligan, and Creative Director Nicholas DeMichele) heard first-hand from company leaders and employees about the new growth and opportunities that have materialized for them and their communities because of their participation in the U.S. offshore wind supply chain.   Here’s a first look at some of our stops. We’ll be sharing more photos detailed takeaways from our tour in the coming weeks, so be sure to follow along here, and by subscribing to our Offshore Wind at Work LinkedIn Newsletter: t.ly/Y8CqE #OSWatwork #offshorejobs #offshorewind #manufacturing

🌟 Intern spotlight: Sarah Gallagher! 🌟 Sarah is working as a Policy Intern at Oceantic Network this summer. In her role, she assists the policy team with assignments related to transmission issues, such as summarizing external reports, researching industry updates, and more. So far, she has taken a particular interest in interregional transmission planning efforts and FERC regulations. Originally from Pennsylvania, Sarah currently attends American University in Washington, D.C., majoring in environmental science and economics. After taking a class on the global energy landscape, she developed a keen interest in understanding U.S. hurdles to offshore wind implementation. She is actively engaged in several extracurricular activities including serving as a board member for the Climate Reality Project, participating in Girls Who Code, and producing an independent critical minerals research project. Last summer, she interned for a D.C. think tank focused on U.S. carbon tax policy where she discovered her love for environmental policy work. For fun, Sarah loves playing pickleball, crocheting, enjoying live music, and spending time with her dog, Winston.

Last week, we held our Norfolk Offshore Wind Day in Virginia. The day started with a boat tour sponsored by Virginia Beach Economic Development on the American Rover, sailing down the Elizabeth River into the Harbor. We learned about the port’s rich history, current offshore wind operations, and admired the local wildlife! The day continued with our Offshore Wind Ready training presented by Oceantic Network and Virginia Beach Economic Development. Attendees spent the day learning about business opportunities in the developing U.S. offshore wind industry and explored project development, supply chain component parts, and how businesses can carve out their niche in this growing field. During lunch, we held our first ever member gathering in Virginia, where people networked with businesses in the local supply chain and got an exclusive sneak peek of what’s in store for the 2025 IPF. Thanks to our member lunch host, Virginia Maritime Association. We wrapped up the day at Norfolk Offshore Wind Drinks, where we mingled, exchanged ideas, and discussed market trends and observations…but most importantly– had fun! #IPF25 #OffshoreWind #OSWatWork
