This video shows how quick and intense a lithium-ion battery fire can be. It may have happened in Oklahoma, but the message is still the same here: be careful with your rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. NEVER dispose of these batteries in garbage or recycling carts. It poses a huge safety risk to our waste collection workers and community. For safe disposal, bring lithium-ion batteries to one of our household hazardous waste drop-off sites listed at www.ocfl.net/HHW.

We are putting the ✨work✨ in Public Works. You’ve probably noticed the road work along South Dean Road. Orange County Public Works is repaving the street to increase its durability and safety for residents. So it’s out with the old and in with the — old. Let’s break that down. Our Public Works team removes the damaged or worn asphalt, mixes it with recycling agents to give it more life, and then reuses it along the stretch of road. This method not only makes the roads safer by treating a wide range of issues, like potholes and rough surfaces, but it also cuts costs and the need for new materials. It’s just one of the ways Orange County Public Works looks to the future to maintain and enhance our infrastructure. You can report potholes or other road safety concerns in your neighborhood by calling 311.
