Meet Conner Martin! He joins the Club as a Social Media Coordinator! Q: How did you get your start in the sports industry? A: In 2021, during my second year at Georgia Southern University, I began an internship with USL League One's South Georgia Tormenta FC. At Tormenta, I worked in Business Operations, assisting with various tasks including marketing, social media, merchandise, and ticketing. One of my primary responsibilities was to increase student attendance at our matches. To address this, I started a student soccer supporters' group that grew to over 150 members within two years. After some time as an intern, I was promoted to several different positions within the club, including Merchandising Coordinator, Social Media Coordinator, and Creative and Brand Coordinator. Tormenta FC provided me with numerous opportunities to learn and grow, and I am very grateful for the platform they provided throughout my three years with the club! Q: Why Orlando City/Orlando Pride? A: Orlando City SC is at the forefront of soccer growth in the southeast, which is really exciting for me because I grew up playing in this region. I love the city of Orlando; there's always something to do, and the unique Florida landscape is a bonus. In my new role as the social media coordinator, I'm looking forward to diving into a project I can truly make my own. I'm all about project-based work, and this position lets me think outside the box and continue my passion for content creation. Q: What is your favorite sports moment? A: The 2022 USL League One Final, where Tormenta FC hosted and beat the Chattanooga Red Wolves, is probably my favorite sports moment. The match ended 2-1 with a late winner. Flight Crew, the student soccer supporters' group I created while at GSU, was at its peak in terms of both numbers and noise. That night felt like the culmination of a lot of hard work from both Tormenta and Flight Crew. Q: What is your favorite outdoor activity? A: I enjoy playing many different sports in my free time. My favorites are soccer, golf, pickleball, and basketball.
