District Manager Lois Frivoll and our Outlet Store team in Manchester, Vermont, recently partnered with the Second Chance Animal Center in Arlington, VT for Orvis Give-Back Days! Founded in 1959 as the Bennington County Humane Society, the Center is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless #animals and supporting pet owners in the local community. Their service area spans all of Bennington County, Vermont, as well as towns in neighboring New York and Massachusetts. Our Great Giveback Days is a month-long program that takes place in the spring and fall at our retail locations. During this time, Orvis stores partner with local non-profits to raise money for their projects, which can include conservation, outdoor participation, and dog organizations. Customers can support the initiatives they care about by visiting a participating store and making a donation. In the past, Great Giveback Days has raised over $1.7 million for organizations like Trout Unlimited, Project Healing Waters, and the Second Chance Animal Center! We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with this incredible organization, raising $6,095.00 for the center, and we look forward to more collaborative efforts in September! Fly fishers take immense pride in being responsible stewards of our natural #resources, and reminders like the graphics below circulate each summer to emphasize that warm water can harm trout. While conventional wisdom suggests halting trout fishing as water temperatures near 70 degrees Fahrenheit, a recent study from Keep Fish Wet challenges this assumption.
