Established over a century ago in 1892, Osborn is proud to be one of the nation’s oldest engineering firms, continuing a tradition of excellence through outstanding quality in engineering. Osborn is a fully integrated, multi-disciplined design firm that uses a specialized team approach to engineering projects. These teams are built from a staff of over 300 professionals that provide designs for all phases of a wide range of projects. Osborn has specialists in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, life safety, technology and transportation engineering, as well as lighting design and commissioning. As an employee-owned firm, each Osborn employee is committed to education and advancement, ensuring that every project is completed with a sense of pride. Osborn’s strength lies with its people.     Celebrate National Lighthouse Day with us! Osborn engineered pre-fabricated bridges, a boardwalk, and buildings, including a stunning faux lighthouse at The Landing Park and Pathway on Sandusky Bay. This 2-mile multipurpose passageway offers walking, biking, skateboarding, and kayaking adventures, with a lighthouse as the main attraction. The several-story-tall lighthouse features two observation decks, one designed for accessibility and another at the top accessed by stairs, offering breathtaking views of Lake Erie.

    Each year, Crain's Cleveland honors the region’s top human resources professionals through their Crain’s Cleveland Business Excellence in HR Program. This year, we are excited to announce that our Director of Human Resources, Rachele Hill, MBA has been named an honoree in the program and is a finalist for the Overall Excellence, Individual award! According to Crain’s Cleveland, winners and finalists (both as individuals and as teams) have been selected in the following categories: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Employee Experience & Retention; Overall Excellence; and Recruitment. Each honoree was selected by a panel of outside judges comprised of HR professionals and 2023 honorees in the Excellence in HR program. Rachele and the other honorees will be recognized on August 15th during the Best Employers in Ohio event where the Overall Excellence (Individual) award will be announced.     As August arrives, it brings with it a mixture of emotions, as we bid farewell to the leisure of summer and welcome the buzz of a fresh academic year! This month, we also observe National Back to School Month, an opportunity to spotlight our various projects in education. Our efforts encompass a number of projects such as the cutting-edge Aeronautics and Engineering Building at Kent State University, the updated Fribley Commons at Case Western Reserve University, the inviting Riverview Elementary School in Painesville, the revamped Minerva France Elementary School in Westerville, and the resource-rich Library at Lorain County Community College.     That's a wrap on year 2 of participating in Cleveland Corporate Challenge! The Corporate Challenge is an annual corporate athletic competition that promotes employee wellness, team-building, and networking while supporting local charities. Companies of all sizes participate in various events, earning points towards the Corporate Cup. The competition fosters camaraderie and offers opportunities for personalized awards and charitable donations. Team Osborn had a fun summer participating, competing in 12 events and finishing 5th overall in our division. We had a great time and are looking forward to join the competition again next year!

    The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is planning to repair and extend 22 Red Line platforms to accommodate new, narrower train cars arriving in 2026. Three platforms at Superior, Cedar/University East, and West Park will be completely replaced due to deterioration and upgrades to the 104-year-old signal system between East 79th and Shaker Square will modernize the network will be part of future projects.
