What are the right and wrong ways to think about parental leave in 2024? On Wednesday, Darren Keener and I spoke to a packed room filled with HR and LOA leaders to answer this question. Want the tl;dr? 🐣 Societal and political environment are pushing toward increased paid parental leave … so businesses should “get ahead of the curve” on this topic (because eventually - you’ll have to anyway) 💰 Think beyond just the weeks of pay to build a more competitive and supportive parental leave policy (tenure requirements, how leave impacts variable comp, administration of leave, phase back to work programs) 🧨 Parental leave policies will backfire (via business disruption, attrition, lower engagement) unless you combine strong policies with strong execution ⭐ Parental leave policies should be constantly reviewed and updated to stay competitive Thank you to Majesco for hosting such a great panel, and for the broader Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) community. I'm walking away with so many new friends ... and can't wait to see everyone again next year!
