In Sierra Leone more needs to be done to improve health services for women and children and decrease maternal mortality❗ That's where the Maternal Center of Excellence (MCOE) comes in! Designed to provide advanced maternal and child health services, the MCOE is the first-of-its-kind facility in Sierra Leone. “It's going to be a space where women are going to feel appreciated and treasured," says Isata Dumbuya, PIH Sierra Leone's director of reproductive, maternal, neonatal, and child health. We're tackling the global oxygen crisis by building new oxygen plants and training biomedical engineers and clinicians. For over a decade, we've ensured our facilities have the necessary staff, equipment, and systems for lifesaving oxygen therapy. BRING O2, funded by Unitaid and in partnership with Build Health International and Pivot Health Madagascar, is expanding access to reliable oxygen in Malawi, Rwanda, Peru, Lesotho, and Madagascar. 💨 Learn more by watching the video: https://bit.ly/3SJSrPj

The PIH family is deeply saddened by the passing of Susan Wojcicki, a longtime supporter of our work along with her husband Dennis and their family. Susan was a champion for women and children, particularly those who lacked access to opportunities and basic human rights. Along with her friends and YouTube Vloggers John and Hank Green, she was one of the earliest supporters of our Maternal Center of Excellence (MCOE) in Sierra Leone, which will radically reduce maternal mortality in of the most dangerous places to deliver. She and Dennis then expanded their support for maternal and child health across all of our PIH sites, allowing us to provide high quality, dignified care to some of the world’s most vulnerable families. She will be truly missed. Our thoughts are with the Wojcicki/Troper family during this heartbreaking time.
