Implementing technology-based health interventions for women and girls presents unique challenges, especially when we're measuring the effectiveness of online engagement to offline outcomes. But one of the biggest challenges, in my opinion, lies in defining what we measure in the first place. How do we ensure that everything we count, counts? Traditional metrics focused solely on the absence of disease often overshadow the true purpose of our efforts—holistic health and wellbeing. We need new to reconceptualize our definition of successful health outcomes and look indicators that value the full health and wellness experience of women and girls. At Viya Health by Population Services International, we're exploring a rights-based approach to monitoring and evaluation, using digital feedback loops to ensure cost-effective and continuous assessment of our impact on outcomes looking at voice, choice and agency. It has been truly inspiring to work with Claire Watt Rothschild, PhD MS as we explore innovative ways to accurately measure the health impact of our interventions and ensure they align with people's self-defined needs and desires. Colleagues in the HIV response, we cannot keep putting out these types of comms and then wondering why no one is coming. Not a single one of these bullets answers the question, "What's in it for me?" Some are not even reasons at all. What could be some alternatives? That question should really be answered in consultation with the target audience, but based on our work with men here are some thoughts: If you have HIV, it's better to know so that you can take action. * Treatment gets HIV under control quickly and easily. HIV is now 100% manageable, usually with just one pill a day. * With treatment, you'll have so little HIV in your body that you can't pass it to anyone else. You can enjoy sex without worrying about it. * Treatment means you can live just as long and stay just as healthy as anyone else. Living with HIV is no longer a big deal as long as you're on treatment. * Treatment keeps your body strong enough to fight off other illnesses. There's no reason to put it off until you are sick and weak. And if you put it off too long, it might be too late. And if you don't have HIV, it's still good to know! * It's an opportunity to learn more about your options for preventing it. We now have more solutions for you than just condoms!

📸 Celebrating the successful administration of the first round of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) in Côte d'Ivoire! With 98% of the children registered for the 2024 campaign receiving their first dose, the collaborative efforts of PSI Côte d'Ivoire, the Ministry of Health, National #Malaria Program, USAID and community leaders are off to a great start. Thanks to the communities who have embraced the #SMC campaign, we're collectively building a healthier future for Côte d'Ivoire’s children.

Building on best practices and lessons learned is key to improving health outcomes. Before the kick-off of a Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (#SMC) campaign, PSI Côte d'Ivoire partnered with the National Malaria Program (NMP) to conduct SMC training for campaign volunteers. This training was designed to equip volunteers with the essential skills to administer SMC medication effectively and educate families about comprehensive #malariaprevention, including the integration of other preventive measures such as #bednets. Built on lessons learned working together during last year’s campaign, PSI Côte d'Ivoire supported the NMP to develop the volunteer training and this year’s campaign plan with the goal of increasing coverage against #malaria.
