Yesterday, in observance of Overdose Awareness Month, Asbury Park joined forces with Preferred Behavioral Health Group and the Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County for a moving purple flag display. The event, held at 1 Municipal Plaza, featured poignant presentations by Mayor John Moor, Chief Guy Thompson, and Pastor Lyddale Akins. This display was part of a county-wide initiative to shed light on the overdose epidemic's devastating impact. With New Jersey reporting 865 drug-related deaths in just the first five months of 2024, and Monmouth County having already lost 27 residents this year, the need for awareness and action is urgent. Additionally, a similar flag display took place at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in Freehold, with Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago leading the ceremony. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this important cause. Your presence and advocacy are vital in the fight against the overdose crisis Read more below https://heyor.ca/uRUfwM #InternationalOverdoseAwarenessDay #EndTheStigma #SupportRecovery #OvercomingAddiction #wearePBHG
