We teamed up with powerful GIS data viz tool Felt to dive into the controversial congestion pricing plan in NYC. With Replica data, it’s possible to analyze commute patterns not just by home & work location, but by industry of employment, household income, race & ethnicity, mode of transportation, and when people go to work. Read the blog, explore the map, and see how these types of insights could change the way we manage commutes and allocate dollars from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law across the country. https://lnkd.in/ewBMX5Gw
About us
Replica is a next-generation urban planning tool that can help cities answer key transportation and land use questions. Replica offers public agencies, land developers, and the community at large a complete sense of city movement patterns. The result is a higher confidence in critical transportation and land use decisions. Replica has three distinct advantages: Fresher data We create a new Replica every three months allowing comparisons of trip patterns over time and showing how people respond to new infrastructure and policies on the ground. A more detailed picture We replicate trip data for every street and transit route, every neighborhood and census tract, every moment of the day. Greater precision We calibrate our models against ground-truth data from public agencies to ensure accuracy and precision.

On what would have been the first Monday of New York City's Congestion Pricing Plan, a team from The New York Times spent the morning counting cars to estimate potential revenue. They counted 22,252 vehicles and estimated $200k in revenue would have been generated during their hour of counting. Manual counts only provide a limited picture of traveler activity... which is where Replica comes in. To get the full scope of vehicle activity, the Times used Replica data, which shows an estimated 347,000 trips into the tolling district on an average weekday. Read more to learn about the investigation: https://lnkd.in/ecVk772f
