Harold Arriola Nucamendi, Software Engineer at Red Ventures and #R2HAlumni, organized a Lunch & Learn Panel for our current apprentices. Alongside Justin McNeil (R2H S. Tech Program Manager), Raphael Fabeni and Savannah Radke (Engineering Managers at RV), Harold shared invaluable insights and experiences to broaden horizons and inspire career paths. This initiative, led by Harold, Joshua Proctor, and Marcio S., aims to give back to the upcoming apprentices through various Alumni-led events. "The goal is to get to know the apprentices, and to give them a place to interact and network with industry experts!" A heartfelt thank you to all the Alumni who continue to make a positive impact in their communities. #RoadtoHire #GiveBack

Exciting news for the city of Charlotte! We've climbed from 50th to 38th in economic mobility among U.S. cities. This progress marks a significant step forward and is a promising sign for our future. As Road to Hire celebrates our 10th anniversary in 2024, we are thrilled to be recognized for the impact we, along with many other dedicated organizations and initiatives, have made on our city's advancement. This improvement is a testament to the tireless work of both our past and current R2H staff, our incredible volunteers, and the supportive families of Charlotte. It's time to intensify our efforts and investments to ensure future generations have even more equitable opportunities. Our collaborative work is truly making a difference! https://bit.ly/4d9EH8e https://bit.ly/3WCqpaM

Charlotte - this is news to celebrate! Thanks to meaningful investments like the Mayor's Racial Equity Initiative, thought leadership from groups like Leading on Opportunity and the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council, and the power of nonprofits like Road to Hire who have gotten into schools and communities to create onramps to opportunity - we are making a difference. Charlotte can and will be a city where every child has an equal chance to thrive- regardless of race, income or zip code. We have a long way to go, but this data is an important reminder that progress - while not always linear and almost always slower than we’d like - is possible, and is worth the effort. https://lnkd.in/g9WWZPSX

As my internship has officially come to an end, it's bittersweet to share that my last company visit was with Equitable. Equitable is a leading financial services company dedicated to helping individuals and organizations with retirement planning, life insurance, and financial management. During this visit, we delved into the company's history and learned about their expertise in 403b retirement plans, budgeting, saving, and life insurance. We had a panel of speakers and broke into small groups with Equitable employees to discuss financial literacy, taxes, and the importance of retirement saving. This visit was a fantastic way to conclude my internship. I am immensely grateful to both Road to Hire and Equitable for providing such invaluable experiences and insights. These experiences have equipped me with knowledge and skills that I will carry forward as I continue my career journey. Thank you to everyone who made this internship memorable and impactful. Stay tuned for the next steps in my journey! #RoadtoHire #Equitable #CareerExplore #InternshipExperience #StayTuned

This week's company visit spotlight is on the Truist Center Headquarters! Truist, a leading financial services company, welcomed us to an informative experience, giving us a view of their work environment. Our visit began with a tour of the entire headquarters, where we learned about various positions and career opportunities within the company. One of the highlights was participating in a financial literacy simulation. In this exercise, we were each assigned a fictitious job and salary, then tasked with creating and managing a budget based on our earnings. This simulation was eye-opening, teaching us the importance of financial planning and budgeting for our future. As a Road to Hire student intern, I was also in charge of creating a video highlighting our tour experience and company visit at the headquarters. I can't wait to share the video with you all. This visit has been my favorite career exploration visit so far, offering both practical knowledge and an enjoyable day. Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to explore different career paths and share my journey with the Career Explore program! #RoadtoHire #CareerExplore #TruistCenter #FinancialLiteracy #CareerOpportunities #StayTuned
