Congratulations to our 2024 EXCEL Clinical Intern Nursing Graduates! 🎓 These students, who were in their final year of nursing school, have spent the last 10 weeks working one-on-one with Rochester Regional Health nurses at Rochester General Hospital & Unity Hospital to get hands-on clinical experience and enhance their skills for the next step in their nursing career journeys - many of which will be right here at RRH. We're especially grateful for the nearly dozen students who traveled all the way from Puerto Rico to participate in the program, with hopes of relocating here and joining our care teams! This week, we were excited to welcome local high school students from across the region to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital for MedQuest Career Camp, a full-day, hands-on experience in various fields of healthcare. Students participated in activities covering everything from emergency care to rehab therapies - and even got an inside look at a Mercy Flight helicopter! 🚁 "MedQuest is just one of the many ways we live our values," said Dustin Fanciullo, MD, Chief of Surgery for Clifton Springs Hospital & Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. "We're investing the in next generation of our region's healthcare workers by providing this interactive, educational opportunity for high school students who'd like to come and learn more." And today, we’re proud to highlight one of our incredible team members, Javannah Davis. 🙌 Community members may recognize Javannah for her role as Honorary Marshal for the 2024 Rochester Pride Parade - but she’s ALSO an incredible nurse at our Wegman Family Cottages, a graduate of the Isabella Graham Hart Practical School of Nursing, and the founder of WAVE Women, Inc., a local nonprofit created to empower, support, encourage, inspire, elevate voices, promote visibility, educate, advocate, create mutual aid support, provide community resources, and bring hope to the underserved BIPOC transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in our community. 🏳️⚧️ Thank you to Javannah for sharing her story, her time, and her gifts with our team members, patients, and the community. #RootedInCommunity #CareLikeFamily

We’re Here for Geneva. 🙌 Yesterday, we broke ground on what will be our 58,000-square-foot Geneva Medical Campus, scheduled to open in 2025. This new state-of-the-art facility will bring both new and pre-existing practices together in one central location, including: ◻ Adult Primary Care ◻ Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology ◻ Behavioral Health ◻ Cardiology ◻ Endocrinology ◻ General and Vascular Surgery ◻ Laboratories ◻ Lipson Cancer Center – Infusion ◻ Neurosciences ◻ Oncology ◻ Obstetrics and Gynecology ◻ Orthopedics ◻ Pediatrics ◻ Urgent Care ◻ Urology The center will also house a full imaging suite with MRI, CT, x-ray, mammogram, DEXA (bone density), and ultrasound capabilities. It will also include a physical therapy gym and a full procedure suite. 📣 NEWS: We're thrilled to to announce a significant medical breakthrough in Upstate New York, brought to our region by the incredible team at the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute.🫀 This morning, at Rochester General Hospital, Jeremiah Depta, MD, alongside esteemed colleagues, Farhad Abtahian, MD; Bipul Baibhav, MD; David Corteville, MD, FACC, CPE; and Scott Feitell, MD, performed the region's first implantation of the EVOQUE transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement system (TTVR). "The EVOQUE TTVR system represents a paradigm shift in cardiac care," says Dr. Depta, "and this development underscores our commitment to pioneering state-of-the-art medical treatments and improving patient outcomes." This groundbreaking procedure utilizes a newly FDA-approved therapy, marking a pivotal advancement in the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation. This condition, characterized by improper closure of the tricuspid valve, resulting in blood backflow into the right atrium, can now be addressed through this innovative, minimally invasive approach - without the need for open-heart surgery.
