We had a blast at the launch of our tour at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, teaching over 500 YMCA campers, from YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta essential car and pedestrian safety tips. The debut of our new children’s book, Clifford Takes a Ride, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz USA and Scholastic featured a reading by Atlanta Falcons Legend Matt Ryan and an appearance from Clifford The Big Red Dog himself! Check out this great article on Parents.com about today’s release of a new kids’ book  — Clifford Takes A Ride — that makes learning fun by offering families essential safety tips for staying safe in and around cars. Published by Scholastic, the new book is the centerpiece of a national safety campaign we’re launching with our partners at Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA). Over the next month, we’ll distribute 30,000 free copies of the book to families across the country via Mercedes dealerships and Safe Kids Worldwide coalitions.   The launch event today at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, part of a four-stop book and safety tour, included a reading by former Atlanta Falcons quarterback and MBUSA brand ambassador Matt Ryan for more than 500 enthusiastic campers from the The Y (YMCA) of Metro Atlanta. In addition, there was a special appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog, and interactive safety education stations covering passenger, pedestrian, and bike safety, as well as bike rodeo, helmet fittings, games, prizes, and more.   To learn more, read this excellent piece by DeVonne M. We're excited to announce the launch of our new children’s book, Clifford Takes a Ride, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz USA and Scholastic! This will be a tool for educators and parents to teach kids about child passenger safety in a fun and engaging way. Knowing that a properly used and installed child safety seat can reduce the risk of injury by as much as 71%, we hope that, by promoting safe behaviors and providing families with safety tips, we can prevent more injuries and save more lives.

Our President, Torine (Brooks) Creppy, spoke today at The National Press Club in Washington D.C. about gun safety! We’d like to thank the Honorable Ann Brown for her generous donation of $100,000 to purchase 37,000 cable gun locks. Safe Kids Worldwide will distribute these locks, free of charge, to families in nine states (AL, GA, IN, MO, OH, SC, TN, MI, VA) and Washington, D.C.

Happy Father's Day! We're sending out a big thank-you to all the amazing dads out there who work hard to keep their kids safe. When you find yourself thinking, “What did I get myself into?” Know that Safe Kids is here to help!

I’m so proud of my fantastic team at Safe Kids Worldwide and their unending commitment to keeping the world safe for children. Last week, for National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we all decided to #WearOrange to bring awareness to the hundreds of preventable tragedies that occur as a result of #gunviolence.   Roughly a third of American children live in homes with firearms, and 4.6 million live with unlocked, loaded guns. We are a proud partner of Everytown for Gun Safety's Be SMART program to educate families and communities about the vital importance of the safe storage of firearms.   Our message to families: If you have guns in your home, keep them out of reach and out of sight of children by storing them securely. Store guns unloaded and secured with effective, child-resistant gun locks in a locked container, out of the reach and sight of children. Keep ammunition in a separate locked container, out of the reach and sight of kids. Use combination locks and safes, or safes that use fingerprint recognition locks. Keep the combinations carefully hidden. When it comes to guns in the home, make safety your number one consideration!
