We are More Than an Outdoor Company. Water Filtration, Insect Repellent, Sunscreen & First Aid, Backcountry to Backyard.

About us

Since 1984, Sawyer Products has offered the best, most technologically advanced solutions for protection against sun, bugs, water & injuries–everything from first aid kits developed for wilderness use to our newest topical insect repellents that use time-released liposome technology. We believe in protecting humans from microscopic things that can do great harm. We believe forests are an invitation, so RSVP. We believe life as we know it is happier around a campfire. We believe everyone deserves to be safe. We believe nature wants to be explored. We believe helping is not optional. We believe non-profits deserve some of ours. We believe babies hate getting bitten by insects as much as adults. We believe bugs is a noun and a verb, neither one fun in the woods. We believe the cross thing you make on a mosquito bite with your fingernail is avoidable. We believe any source of fresh water can become 99.99999% clean. We believe love and smiles are universal. We believe hugs feel the same in both developed and undeveloped countries. And we believe that thanks are in order for anyone who buys our products. You help us aid refugees, disaster zones, and life-saving efforts around the world, perhaps without even knowing it.

A simple tool to deliver hope - The Sawyer Products bucket filter being demonstrated in the remote bush to the Maasai people in South Kenya on the Tanzania border. While there are more advanced (more complicated) water filters there are very few that can serve a 7 year old - 97 year old that they can maintain and use. That list even gets shorter (to one) for the number of filters that have been studied and published in peer review scientific journals for accuracy of claims to remove harmful pathogens from unclean surface water. Just imagine if you saw this muddy water everyday and were used to being sick and then...... a missionary shows up and hands this to you - instant relationship! #thatshowweroll The Bucket Ministry

We're proud to support projects that offer valuable perspectives while showing respect for the community and land they're visiting. Kendra's natural curiosity and open-mindedness, paired with a group of good-natured friends in the backcountry of Guatemala, let us know this was a project that would not only be stunningly beautiful, but also an incredible story. Join Kendra Slagter and her team in this stunning short documentary as they embark on a profound journey through the Guatemalan highlands, where history, culture, and resilience converge. "Water is one of the biggest needs in a survival situation, as dehydration can lead to disorientation and, in three days or less, death. Rather than bring lots of water with him in Glacier country, Kolic brings this Sawyer Mini water-filtration kit that allows him to drink from most mountain streams or rivers." Thanks for sharing the love for our Mini, National Geographic! Always remember to plan ahead and prepare. https://lnkd.in/e9qNume6

"Here is one example of how 1 filter could help a family. In order to get water (not necessarily clean or fresh) they took a 10-minute boat ride to a neighboring village and paid for water. They did this twice a day. If they were to do this for half the month, they would pay $60 in water and would have spent 10 hours. On average, a family income here is $100-$200 a month. With 1 filter supplied by Sawyer Products, they would save 10 hours a month, $60 a month, and have actual clean water for not only drinking but medical use as well." Thank you for sharing this story, Keaton Lynn, MBA, about the many ways clean water can have a positive impact on lives for over a decade!

Delivering water filters in the Philippines and what it taught me... -It always takes a team to be successful: The island of Tawi Tawi is located near the Southern edge of the Archipelago. To get there, we first need pre-coordination from both the Sultan of the province of Sapa Sapa and a Filipano Marine escort at all times. We worked with the locals, the Marines, U.S. Marines, and Waves For Water to make this happen. Here's a brief explanation of what it took logistically for just me to get there. LAX -> SFO -> Manila -> Zomboanga -> Tawi Tawi. Then 30-minute drive -> 1-hour boat ride -> 30-minute drive = Total hours: 24 hours This could not have happened without a team -Be continuously grateful for what you have: During our time, fresh water was in short supply at times, showers were inconsistent, toilets may or may not have existed, salt water was not uncommon to be used as drinking water, and wells were either open, too shallow, or empty. Yet, the people, unsurprisingly, were happy, grateful, caring, giving, accommodating, and hospitable. -Filters can save lives: Being on the team at Waves For Water and the Clean Water Corps showed me firsthand the impact we can have. On our trip, we visited two villages, Sapa Sapa and Turburan on the island of Basilian. Led by the Waves4Water Philippine team, we supplied 90 filters which would be spread out for schools, hospitals, households, general meeting places and other locations they felt would be fitting. Here is one example of how 1 filter could help a family. In one location, a well was dry about half the time. With 1 filter supplied by Sawyer Products, they would save 10 hours a month, $60 a month, and have actual clean water for not only drinking but medical use as well. It will last them 10 years or 1 million gallons. Want to combine health and water? Trybe can help. Over the last two months, I've focused primarily on getting the word out about the Forever Chemicals podcast. During that time, I've made a lot of new connections on here, so I also wanted to share that through April, the Outdoor Minimalist podcast resumed business as usual by continuing to release a new episode every Monday. In case you missed them, here are some of the amazing guests and topics I had on the Outdoor Minimalist podcast last month: - Rick Saez: A Call to the Outdoor Industry: We Need to Do More and Make Less - Katie Houston: An Inside Look at Sawyer Products Clean Water Projects - Brandon Leeds: Are Compostable Plastics Greenwashing? - Justin Townsend: Harvesting Nature: Culinary Conservation and Ethical Hunting - Madelaine Anderson: Navigating Postpartum Motherhood with the Help of Nature - Shannon Rochelle: [BONUS] Recreate Responsibly this Earth Day by Following the Leave No Trace 7 Principles Link to listen in the comments. #podcast #outdoorindustry

Hi Friends, Fam, and Colleagues! Many of you may know that outside of work, I sit on the board of the American Long Distance Hiking Association West (ALDHA-West). I spend a lot of time hiking long-distance trails and it's my goal to help make my passion more accessible to everyone. A few months ago as an organization, we set out to begin working against the issue of BIPOC hiker under-representation in our organization and on the trails we know and love. With the help of an incredible grant and some incredible outdoor gear companies, I'm excited to announce the 2024 ALDHA-West Diversity Hiker Scholarship recipients! HUGE thanks to the Live for a Living foundation for the grant, Abstracthikes for painting the program logo, and our 2024 ALDHA-West Triple Crown level sponsors for providing the gear to make this program possible! #aldhawest ALDHA-West Six Moon Designs Treeline Review Sawyer Products Gossamer Gear Inc.
