The SEARCH and B&K Consulting Group, LLC team was warmly received in Tonga and Nauru where local communities kindly shared meaningful insights into traditional and contemporary cultural relationships with the deep sea. The stories and perspectives they shared are critical for assessing how the NORI-D project could intersect with cultural heritage in the remote Clarion Clipperton Zone, and we are truly grateful to all those who participated. #CulturalHeritage

Over the past two weeks, our NORI team and independent consultants SEARCH who brought in the additional expertise of B&K Consulting Group, LLC, have been engaging with stakeholders in Tonga and Nauru for the Cultural & Heritage Impact Assessment for our NORI-D Project. In both locations, we gained invaluable perspectives from a broad range of voices, including community leaders, fisherfolk, elders, various government departments, and local academic institutions. These insights will play a crucial role in informing our study, helping us identify cultural heritage resources to ensure a culturally responsible project. We are grateful for the warm welcome and invaluable contributions from communities in Tonga and Nauru. #deepseamining #stakeholder #impactassessment #culturalheritage
