Wedding guests spend an average of $600+ per wedding, 25% of which is on attire alone. Meanwhile, brides spend an average of $2,000 on a wedding dress—and that’s one dress. As a guest, four weddings can easily turn into 12 outfits. As a bride-to-be, the wedding can easily turn into 10 outfits—from proposal to honeymoon. The financial burden gets real, fast. We’ve been there, and it’s why we recently launched Pickle’s Closet Concierge. Our Closet Concierge is a complementary service that provides custom-curated rental closets for brides and wedding guests to shop for any wedding-related event. It starts with filling out our intake form (linked below - it takes less than 5 minutes). A few days later, we send you an expertly curated rental closet. Whether it’s a hand-picked assortment of $60/week luxury gowns for the guests of your black-tie wedding or a collection of $40/week looks for your friend’s disco-themed bachelorette party, we’re alleviating the what-do-I-wear stress and cost that comes with wedding season. For more tips on minimizing the economic (and environmental) impacts of dressing for the wedding circuit, check out our recently released Wedding Fashion Trends Report: https://lnkd.in/gRfDxGep Closet Concierge: https://lnkd.in/gmXxYp4M #fashion #marketplace #weddings #weddingstyle #weddingfashion #brides #fashionrental

We’re powering a new level of fashion savvy at Pickle, where people can make passive income on items they own and love AND rent—for ~$40/week—the sold-out RODARTE dress from someone else’s closet a few blocks away. Robinhood's Sherwood News caught on! Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gV7wnqF2 Thank you, Nia Warfield, for spending time with us and giving people a closer look at what Pickle is about!
Starting as a social polling site, Pickle has evolved into a popular peer-to-peer fashion rental app that essentially turns your neighbor's closet into an Airbnb. I sat down with the co-founders (and chatted with some of Pickle's top renters) to discuss how the company is tackling fashion's sustainability problem head-on.

It’s here! Today we unveiled Pickle’s first-ever Wedding Fashion Trends Report, a comprehensive guide that combines data-backed trends (spanning 100,000+ items, 2,000+ brands, a community of tens of thousands, and months of number-crunching) as well as expert analysis from celebrity wardrobe stylists Zoe Gofman and Margot Zamet. The goal? To help power a more stylish, circular, and affordable wedding season for brides and guests, bachelorettes to showers, and receptions to honeymoons, this summer and beyond. A sampling of what’s inside: 1️⃣ Unexpected and unseasonal fashion trends — like summer demand for sequin dresses outpacing NYE demand 2️⃣ Most in-demand brands and most-wanted items — like Acler's Avonlea dress which singlehandedly drove a 300% spike in brand demand, month over month 3️⃣ What to list from your closet now to maximize earnings — looking at you, Réalisation Par, which can make back 5x the upfront investment 4️⃣ A clear shift in how we’re approaching the one-time-wear season of summer weddings — take Pickle’s 185% growth in searches and 174% growth in offers for wedding-related items as a signal 5️⃣ What to wear, why, and how for every type of wedding-adjacent occasion — straight from the people dressing Adriana Lima, Brooks Nader, Paulina Gretzky, Yesly Dimate, and more Check it out: https://lnkd.in/g8zR6DJv

It has been so exciting to see Pickle grow so quickly! We set out to open up and connect closets in every neighborhood, making it easier and more affordable to rent the most coveted pieces from each other... whether you’re borrowing the gotta-have Zimmermann dress last minute from a girl uptown or justifying your CHANEL flap bag investment by renting it out for summer weddings. Just two years ago, we started building our Manhattan community. Brian McMahon and I took over 4,000 subway rides to hand-deliver rentals. It didn’t take long for the organic brand love to gain serious momentum, and we were (gladly) able to deploy our on-demand, same-day couriers so that renting could happen at your doorstep in as little as an hour. 100,000+ items, 2,000+ brands, and tens of thousands of people later, we’ve seen and responded to local demand. Most recently, we expanded to LA (ICYMI, WWD's feature), making it possible to rent that $40/week CULT GAIA dress in a Santa Monica closet and have it delivered to your West Hollywood doorstep in an hour - right in time for a last minute event or special occasion. Now, we’re thrilled to be doing the same for Brooklyn! Arguably, two of the most fashionable communities of closets unite; any Brooklynite can rent same-day within their neighborhood or from across the East River, and vice versa for those in Manhattan. We’re excited to bring Pickle to more communities and really embed ourselves in each neighborhood, understanding and celebrating the local nuances, how people like to shop, and who they are, and deliver a more circular, accessible, and fun way to enjoy fashion. On that note, if you’re in Brooklyn this month, Pickle is taking over Williamsburg! We’ve teamed up with over 20 locations, brands and creators to bring you the Pickle X Williamsburg takeover! Join us IRL from July 15th - to July 28th for Pickle popups, scavenger hunts with local partner giveaways, community socials, and a mega clothing swap-->more info: https://lnkd.in/e5jaKAvg ICYMI - learn more about our LA expansion here: https://lnkd.in/ejFnsWvu #brooklyn #nyc #clothingrentals #losangeles #pickle #fashion #ecommerce #rentalmarketplace

I'm excited to share that I've been busy helping grow Pickle, as their Director of Operations! Pickle is using the power of technology to make high-quality fashion more accessible, affordable, and circular, and it’s been rapidly scaling across the US (hence this very delayed post 😅). Just like Airbnb opened up and connected our homes, Pickle is doing the same for our closets: you can rent a Retrofète dress or Prada handbag from someone else’s enviable closet uptown for the weekend and, on the flip side, list an item you already own, making yourself a nice little side hustle by renting it between wears (check out TechCrunch's feature for more: https://lnkd.in/gFEC8zq6). So far this year, I've personally rented Cult Gaia and Alemais dresses for a beach vacation, a (faux!) fur coat for a themed dinner, a Reiss dress for a work event, and another Alemais stunner for a birthday celebration, to name a few. I have 11 (!!) weddings this year, so I'm looking forward to being able to save $$ without compromising on style. At Uber, we were laser focused on creating magical experiences (get ride with a click of a button?!), and it's a similar mindset that's led to Pickle taking off so quickly. The access to incredible pieces at affordable prices - with same day delivery (!!) in our core cities has created nothing short of magic. 👉 To my friends in the US - with summer vacations and wedding season picking up, it's a perfect opportunity to try out Pickle. I'd love to hear what you think! I've added a (free ☺️) download link to the thread ⬇️ PS - We're also hiring! If you know any NYC-based (or willing to relocate) Senior Engineers with founder or early-stage experience, DM me! It's an incredible opportunity to work on a transformational product with the best team. JD in the thread.

NBC News' Zinhle E. visited our West Village store and sat down with our founder, Julia O'Mara, for an inside look at the fast-growing world of peer-to-peer clothing rental through Pickle. She went behind the scenes to see it come to life with our community, visiting Ellen’s apartment where she’s built a thriving side hustle renting out items from her closet, and tagging along with Blake as she picks up the dress she rented for her birthday.
