Smart Wires Inc. reposted this
I had the privilege of presenting at #TechExpo2024, where industry experts and innovators came together to share and explore the latest advancements in GETs technologies. It was an honor to discuss Smart Wires Inc. technology and engage with such a talented audience. The exchange of ideas and insights was truly inspiring. A big thank you to Southwest Power Pool and everyone who attended for making this event a memorable experience. Looking forward to future collaborations and continued growth in the tech space! André Priolli in action at CIGRE Brasil's event in Rio de Janeiro📸André presented global projects that use our advanced power flow control, SmartValve™, to unlock capacity and solve critical grid issues! Thanks to CIGRE-Brasil - Comitê Nacional Brasileiro de Produção e Transmissão de Energia Elétrica for hosting this event which focused on the growing use of FACTS and BESS in Brazil. FACTS refers to static power-electronics devices that were developed to increase power transfer capability, stability, and controllability of AC transmission networks through series and/or shunt compensation. SmartValve is a series-connected FACTS device called a modular Static Series Synchronous Compensator (m-SSSC).

GETs have now become part of discussions, articles and even federal rules, but there is often confusion on what they are exactly. To address this, EPRI has published a series of fact sheets, including one on APFC like SmartValve™⚡ Per the fact sheet: "Advanced Power Flow Control (APFC) technologies are power electronic-based devices that can actively change the way power flows through the transmission system without making changes to generator dispatch or the topology of the network. In that way, these devices can divert power flow from congested lines to other circuits with spare capacity, making more efficient use of the transmission assets."
