Our upcoming Faculty Development Symposium (FDS) is scheduled to happen at our Convention in Anaheim, CA, scheduled for October 31st. This is a FREE event for early-career Hispanic faculty. The FDS aims to foster a diverse community of engineering faculty members by providing support and opportunities for collaboration. Our participants will acquire valuable skills and resources to bolster their journey toward earning tenure and promotion. Furthermore, they will have the chance to connect with esteemed tenured faculty members from various disciplines and early-career colleagues hailing from across the nation. The FDS workshops are dedicated to aiding early-career faculty and post-doctoral researchers in navigating the complex promotion and tenure process. This year's FDS will feature a Deans and Agencies panel that will address the needs of both Tenure Track and Non-Tenure Track faculty members. In addition to this, we have planned workshops on various topics, including building a strong research portfolio, mental health, and culturally responsive teaching. To ensure our participants have a productive and engaging experience, we will provide breakfast and lunch. Thanks to Dr. Ana Rodriguez, Ed.D. for her leadership in managing this year’s FDS and our amazing advising committee composed by Mariantonieta Gutierrez Soto, Ph.D., Sindia M. Rivera-Jiménez, Ph.D, Alejandro Gutiérrez, and Joel Alejandro Mejia. A recent report by SHPE and the Latino Donor Collaborative has been featured in a recent El País article, showcasing the growing influence of Latinos in STEM fields. The study reveals that Latinos have been responsible for 73% of the U.S. workforce growth between 2010 and 2020, contributing $3.2 trillion to the economy. This surge in Latino participation in STEM education and careers shows how much YOU matter. ¡Sigue adelante! https://lnkd.in/e5kEhGGG
