🚀 Introducing Socure's Selfie Reverification: Powering trust and risk decisions across the digital economy with near-perfect 99.9% true match rate for instant identity reverification In today's dynamic digital landscape, identity verification isn't a one-time event. As online interactions evolve, so do risk profiles. That's why we're thrilled to unveil Selfie Reverification — which has the ability to match an incoming selfie with the previously verified ID headshot photo submitted during onboarding in under 2 seconds with a 99.9% true match rate. 🔍 Selfie Reverification leverages DocV's Deepfake Selfie Detector. The Socure data science team generated hundreds of thousands of carefully curated deepfake samples using more than 20 different AI generators to ensure a data set with a range of body shapes, ages, skin tones, postures, lighting conditions, backgrounds, and ethnicities. These deepfakes train Socure’s selfie models to thwart spoofing attacks with incredible precision. Biometric analytics assess >80 facial landmarks, such as eye distance, nose width, jawline contours, and emotional expression, to create and verify a facial map to ensure accurate matching. Why it matters: ⚡Re-validates trust of returning consumers instantly ⚡Crucial for preventing account takeover and securing high-value transactions and government services ⚡Integrates “liveness” detection to prevent sophisticated spoofing For B2C organizations and government agencies, Selfie Reverification offers best-in-class accuracy and ensures a positive customer experience, while mitigating fraud, and lowering opex costs with fewer manual reviews. 👀 Read the news here: https://bit.ly/4dffhGK

California needed to deliver nearly $1 billion in COVID-19 mortgage relief funds to low- and moderate-income California homeowners. Yet California couldn't get started without safeguarding the program from identity thieves. Socure stepped in and provided fast and accurate identity verification for California homeowners. Socure's automated solution positively verified the identity of applicants nearly 94 percent of the time. Without Socure, government staff would have had to spend 5-10 min verifying each applicant’s identity. "If you extrapolate that to the entire population of applications, we are talking about thousands of hours of manual review that has been eliminated by the solution." — Stephen Johnson, Director of Finance for the California Mortgage Relief Program Read more on how we delivered for California in a new article from Government Technology https://lnkd.in/eXqAGcim

With an estimated $13 billion lost annually to account takeover fraud, it's clear that robust fraud controls are needed even after initial account opening. A few key touch points that fraudsters love to exploit: ❓ One-time password requests 🏠 Non-monetary profile updates, like phone, email, or physical address 💸 Instant, push, or peer-to-peer payments By implementing real-time, robust risk checks before these high-risk transactions, you can significantly enhance consumer protection without adding excessive friction to the customer experience. 🎓 Interested in learning more? 🚨 Knowledge-based authentication (KBA) has been used for over 20 years as a method of proving identity online. It’s time to move on. This flawed approach to identity verification relies on stagnant data that has been breached countless times, and as a result has been made widely available on the dark web. 😱 Scary thought: fraudsters have actually become more proficient at answering those credit-based questions than the people the quizzes are intended for. #KBA is still commonly employed in the public sector to perform the critical act of identity proofing – most commonly in motor vehicle registration, online portal access, and notarization. It is either used as a primary form of identity verification or can be used as a backup when an individual is unable to complete the primary method. Meanwhile, the scale and frequency of data breaches has reached new heights – many people’s personally identifiable information can be accessed for as little as $1 per record on the dark web. Read the full blog here from Socure’s Jeff Shultz to learn how innovative approaches like risk based identity proofing, behavioral analytics, and biometrics are transforming identity proofing: https://bit.ly/3A0clPz #IdentityVerification #Cybersecurity #FraudPrevention #DigitalIdentity

💳 Friendly fraud — or where consumers dispute legitimate charges they've made — continues to wreak havoc for the American economy. Socure’s research found that 35% of Americans have committed first-party #fraud, which generates more than $100 billion of losses for U.S. financial institutions and merchants each year. 🔎 Determining the intent of the consumer can be the toughest challenge to solve for fraud experts. We appreciate our partners who have joined Socure’s first-party fraud consortium as we work together to stop #FriendlyFraud abuse. Thanks to Genna Contino and CNBC for bringing attention to this important issue.
