Today we welcomed Andrea Willard, FNP to Sovah Internal Medicine - Martinsville. Andrea received her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Walden University (Minneapolis, MN) as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She specializes in hypertension, anxiety disorder & depression, annual, school, and sports physicals, chronic and acute illnesses, diabetes, minor conditions and injuries, obesity, and preventive health. We are pleased to announce that our new surgical robot will now be named "Billy." A community-wide contest began in May to name the robot and ended in June with nearly 150 entries. Billy was chosen as the name of Sovah Health – Danville’s new surgical robot. Erica Smith took home the prize of a $100 Amazon gift card and shared, “Billy means "desire to protect,” in hopes that this will enhance a patient’s experience and be safe for them. But more so to honor one of our beloved surgeons, Dr. William Sweezer, whom we lost in 2020. We were thrilled to host U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith, representing Virginia’s 9th District, at our Martinsville campus earlier this week. We were able to discuss important topics around rural hospitals and economic development and we appreciate Congressman Griffith’s strong support. #makingcommunitieshealthier

Our Martinsville campus is celebrating 50 years with the American Hospital Association! The AHA is a key partnership as they work to educate Congress on key issues and concerns in hospitals. We’re proud to be a member of AHA as part of our mission of #makingcommunitieshealthier

⭐️ This morning we were so proud to recognize security officer Glenn Hairston for exemplifying our core values at Sovah Health. Glenn received recognition from a patients family for going above and beyond his duties to care for them in the ER during a scary situation. Let’s give a huge shoutout to Glenn who consistently goes above and beyond for our patients! ⭐️

Meet Kelly Newcomb. Kelly is a second-year student enrolled in the DMS General Sonography program with the Sovah School of Health Professions. Kelly knew from a young age that she always wanted to help people after watching her mother in the medical field. She soon realized ultrasound was right for her. She enjoys helping patients in their journey to get the care they need.
