15-year-old Lacrosse player, Lauren Adair, was experiencing prolonged headaches and illness on a family trip. A CT scan showed bleeding in her brain and she was diagnosed with arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Lauren was later admitted to Stanford Medicine Children’s Health’s emergency department. “Thanks to Dr. Maher, the team’s assessment, and Dr. Steinberg’s confidence, they thought they could operate and get to a cure,” Lauren’s mother, Jenni, says.
