"Having started as an agent team member to emerging as an agent in my own office, I’ve had the privilege of serving State Farm policyholders for more than fourteen years, and I am passionate about paying it forward. I am happy to share that one of my team members was recently selected to have his very own agent office in Chattanooga, Tennessee! Playing a role in shaping future State Farm agents is such a rewarding feeling." When Ashleigh's not developing her team, she's making a difference in her community and prioritizing her family. "There are so many benefits to being a State Farm agent. I love the opportunity to give back to the community on such a large scale. My office is able to do this by hosting events like giving out pizzas during back-to-school week or providing Thanksgiving pies to customers. This unique career gives me the ability to serve and help protect so many families, while also providing me with the flexibility to be there for my own family.” Wishing you continued success, Ashleigh! In observance of National Wellness Month, we're highlighting State Farm independent contractor agent Jon Rodriguez. For as long as he could remember, Jon desired to run a business of his own. With the responsibility of raising and providing for three children, the thought of entrepreneurship seemed too risky. At the age of 48, as his daughter reached adulthood and entered the professional world, he decided to give his dream a chance. "When I opened my State Farm agent office three years ago, with the support of my daughter and son-in-law, it was the best decision I ever made. Having them as part of my team, we share a common competitive spirit and strong work ethic which we owe to a lifetime of physical fitness and athletics." Jon emphasizes the significance of wellness across multiple facets of his life. "My love for wellness not only provides me with a healthy mind and body to pursue my dreams, but it has also instilled in me values like self-discipline and perseverance. This dedication helps me maintain focus on being a great father, doing what is right, and providing an amazing experience for State Farm customers every day. "My best advice to anyone chasing their dreams: prioritize your health and fitness. The journey towards realizing your aspirations may take longer than anticipated, but by staying committed to wellness, age will never be a barrier to making it happen." This month, we're celebrating the 40-year anniversary of independent contractor agent DeVon Hudson’s office in Decatur, Georgia! DeVon's beginning with State Farm was not a clear path to becoming an agent, as he already had his sights set on taking his finance degree to work on Wall Street. It was by working at the State Farm corporate office mailroom, to pay his way through college, that DeVon was introduced to the agent opportunity for the first time. "One day, I was asked if I ever considered being a State Farm agent. I was hesitant at first, but over time, I discovered the strong possibilities of this career and the question then shifted from ‘what’ to ‘where.’" DeVon reflects on his four-decade career during Black Business Month and his appreciation of those who’ve inspired him along the way. “Prior to interviewing for my agent office, I met with a Black agent in Georgia who helped me to fully understand the possibilities, opportunities and impact I could have as a Black business owner with this career. His insight confirmed that this was the best decision for me. “State Farm has been very good to me and my family. When people ask how I’ve stayed so long with one company, my answer is always the same — I love what I do. I get to help people in their time of need, build relationships, all while watching customers and their children achieve their dreams. Having the backing of a financially strong company allows me to service customer’s needs with confidence. From the people I have met to the experiences I’ve had; I am truly grateful." Wishing you continued success, DeVon! Thank you for being a good neighbor in your community. #BlackBusinessMonth

Years later, Candace was introduced to new possibilities by a former high school band teacher, who had embarked on a new career path with State Farm corporate. As the son of a State Farm independent contractor agent, Koy Jasperson was immersed in the world of State Farm from a young age. He recalls playing with his favorite toys, State Farm wooden planes and teddy bears, and closing his eyes whenever a competitor's marketing commercial came on TV. "I've had the pleasure of meeting so many kind individuals within this company who have become like family to me. However, I never desired to follow in my dad's footsteps. I wanted to carve my own path." To support himself and his wife during college, Koy decided to work in his father's agent office. "After making the decision to pursue a different path, I had a conversation with my dad about my plans. He remained supportive but encouraged me to explore other opportunities with State Farm before finalizing my decision. Ironically enough, a corporate position as an Agency Field Specialist happened to be available in our area. I decided to apply and was later offered the position. “Serving five years in this role, I gained a deep understanding of the agent opportunity and the impact it can have on State Farm customers, team members, and the community. It was during this time I realized this was the career I truly desired. I took the leap and opened my own agent office in 2019. I did it on my terms and I haven't looked back since.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9
