What's next for Vietnam? Strategy Risks featured in Nikkei Asia discussing geopolitical implications in the weeks following the death of the country's longtime leader. "Key questions for whoever takes the reins in Vietnam include economic reforms, the concentration of power among law enforcement officials and whether to combine the roles of general secretary and president. Until this month, Vietnam had been the only remaining communist country to keep the posts separate. Chinese exports to Vietnam are rising as companies relocate production to avoid U.S. tariffs. The U.S., along with other importers, is increasingly reliant on Vietnam as a major source of everything from furniture to iPads and semiconductors. U.S. taxpayers are funding Washington's bid to work with seven countries, including Vietnam, to build an all-important chip supply chain that excludes China." https://lnkd.in/g7Sv5Ptm

The world is growing more unpredictable. Here's our CEO Isaac Stone Fish on Friday on Yahoo Finance, discussing how chaos surrounding the U.S. election could give autocrats the world over an opportunity to act against U.S. interests. The most worrying scenario? Beijing seizes the opportunity of U.S. distraction to attack Taiwan. https://lnkd.in/e_ZJSSr2

What kind of disinformation appears on the Chinese internet, and how to interpret it? Our CEO Isaac Stone Fish talks to AFP about China's historic lunar mission, and why that's sparked posts on the Chinese internet falsely claiming that the U.S. has faked its moon landings. "Beijing sometimes lets anti-American sentiments and false information to run rampant on the Chinese internet, to allow for an escape valve for domestic tensions, and to modulate Chinese citizens’ views," Isaac Stone Fish, chief executive of China-focused data company Strategy Risks, told AFP...Allowing conspiracy theories on the US moon landing to fester may reflect insecurity on Beijing's part on the space race between China and the United States. Chinese people can be justifiably proud of their lunar module's historic trip to collect samples. They don't need to fall victim to the old conspiracy theory that the US has staged moon landings." https://lnkd.in/eASg7MqH

Strategy Risks in the New York Post, talking about Pinduoduo -- the parent company of shopping behemoth Temu -- and a data leak showing its ties to the Communist Party of China: "Temu — which ran six ads during and after the Super Bowl this year — has growing clout in the United States, raising alarm among lawmakers in Washington, who worry its vast troves of U.S. consumer data could make it a national security threat..'If this leak is accurate, it’s another clear indication of the many ties between the Communist Party of China and Chinese businesses — even ones, like Pinduoduo, that are nominally private,' said Isaac Stone Fish, founder and CEO of Strategy Risks, a China-focused data company. https://lnkd.in/eDZ_6Tme
