Our leaders at Sunrise Banks met with our Senate representatives earlier this summer in Washington, D.C. to advocate for more money in the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) to support our communities and help them thrive. We want to thank the staff members from the offices of Senator Klobuchar, Senator Smith and Senator Thune – along with Congresswoman McCollum and Congressman Emmer -- for engaging with us and learning about the redevelopment we’re making possible in #Minnesota and #SouthDakota with support from the #CDFI Fund. Important Update for Community Development The Senate Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee has approved $354 million for the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund as part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Appropriations Bill. This represents a crucial $30 million increase from last year, aimed at supporting underserved communities nationwide. Additionally, $40 million has been allocated to the Bank Enterprise Award (BEA) program, which effectively channels resources to the most distressed communities and supports small CDFI banks. We extend our thanks to our Senate supporters for their commitment to fostering economic opportunity through these essential investments. For more details on how this funding will impact our communities, read our full press release: https://lnkd.in/e8y4kWmv #CDFI #CommunityDevelopment #EconomicOpportunity #CDBA #FinancialInclusion

Sunrise Banks wants to make sure all kids and families are prepared for the new school year without having to worry about not affording supplies. This month, we're hosting a Back2School Supply drive at all Minnesota bank branch locations. Now through August 31, you can bring in new supplies to any Minnesota Sunrise Banks location. Supplies will be donated and distributed at the Minneapolis Northside YMCA's Back2School Carnival on Saturday, August 17, and to other nonprofits in the Twin Cities. Look for the big boxes at each branch to drop off your donations. You can encourage customers, branch visitors, family, friends and business contacts to do the same! Member FDIC.

Mary Stoick, our Senior Vice President and Director of Tax Credit Lending, has worked on some incredibly challenging and rewarding finance projects during her time at Sunrise Banks. You may be familiar with some of them, such as the Minneapolis American Indian Center, The Historical Coliseum Building and the modular housing factory being built by former NBA star Devean George. Mary recently sat down with Finance & Commerce to talk about her work on some of those high-profile projects, along with what it takes to see these projects through from start to finish.

Phase One, which opened in June, includes a state-of-the-art workout facility, childcare center and a 25-yard swimming pool for teaching people of all ages how to swim. Phase Two will feature a 50-meter competition pool that was used for the 2020 U.S. Olympics Swimming Trials, along with multi-use courts and an atrium with a spiral walking track.
