  • It is incredible to be able to witness the dedication, compassion and generosity of our Mobile Market volunteers! That's why for today's #VolunteerMemberMonday we are happy to recognize all the amazing volunteers at our Camden County Mobile Market in Osage Beach. This Mobile Market, hosted at The Church at Osage Hills, is operational thanks to the amazing amount of support from volunteers and volunteer groups, including many of the church's congregants. Two of these congregants are the Mobile Market's lead volunteers, Anita and LaDonna (pictured), and they both hold the mission of this program near and dear to their hearts. "[Volunteers] show up, rain and snow, sleet or hail... I've been fortunate enough to be a part of this for 14 years, and I have never been to a Mobile that we did not have volunteers show up," Anita says. The mobile is efficiently organized in the parking lot of The Church at Osage Hills, and serves more than 400 individuals during each monthly food distribution. Camden County is in a region of our service area that has one of the highest food insecurity rates, and The Food Bank is proud to partner with many dedicated volunteers to make this Mobile Market possible, meeting the needs of our neighbors facing food insecurity. "We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I’m honored to serve our community in this way," LaDonna says. #ShareFoodBringHope

  • Every quarter, we celebrate an employee who truly embodies one of our four core values: Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, or Compassion. Today, we’re excited to honor a remarkable staff member for her outstanding achievements in the second quarter of 2024! Samantha Cripe has been recognized for her exceptional display of "Integrity." As our Volunteer Programs Manager, Samantha consistently upholds this value in her work at The Food Bank, always prioritizing honesty and authenticity when working with our staff, volunteers and community members. Here are just a some of the heartfelt words shared by her colleagues in their nominations: "Throughout my time working with Samantha, she has consistently upheld the highest ethical standards, ensuring transparency, fairness, and honesty in all interactions with volunteers, staff, and community members. Samantha’s work goes above and beyond to create a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers. She actively seeks feedback, addresses concerns promptly, and fosters a sense of belonging." "Sam is always going above and beyond for others, including volunteers and staff members, to give neighbors the experience they deserve at The Market or one of our other programs. She constantly encourages others to make the right decision, even when it can be a difficult choice." "She is the kind of person who will always speak truth even if it is intimidating to do so. Over time, Sam’s coworkers have come to rely on her for honest assessments and straightforward answers. Whenever presented with varying perspectives and ideas, she truly listens to and accounts for other people’s needs." Thank you, Samantha, for all you do to make a positive impact on our volunteers, neighbors and staff through your work at The Food Bank! We're grateful and lucky to have you as a part of our team! 💜

  • Service tasks at The Food Bank Market can take all sorts of "eggcellent" forms when you register to volunteer! 🥚💜 For today's #VolunteerMemberMonday we would like to show our appreciation to the Veterans United Impact Squad for their service at The Market last month, repackaging eggs and stocking shelves! Individuals in this group took time in their summer schedule to serve and learn more about The Market and they will also visit various other non-profits in our area this summer to serve and gain insight into the specific needs of our community. Thank you, VU Impact Squad for all your efforts to serve our neighbors! If you are interested in registering your group to volunteer at The Market this summer, you can do so on our website: https://buff.ly/3Lj7H1i #ShareFoodBringHope

  • We want to give a huge thank you to the amazing Veterans United employees who served in our Volunteer Room yesterday! 💜 These folks stepped up to the plate with enthusiasm and positivity when we needed help with the somewhat messy task of repackaging flour! They took on the task, smocks and all, and also enjoyed some friendly competition within their group on who could pack the flour most efficiently! Thank you for making a difference for neighbors facing hunger in our local communities! #ShareFoodBringHope

  • AmeriCorps helps communities across the country to prepare for, respond to and recover from natural and man-made disasters. The Food Bank is part of a disaster relief network and responds to various needs in our community when an emergency impacts our neighbors. This is just one reason why we are proud to host AmeriCorps members! These dedicated service members ensure that The Food Bank is ready to act in the event of a disaster; from ensuring food is ready to share at a moment’s notice, to serving neighbors who have been impacted by disasters at our partner agencies. As we celebrate 30 years of AmeriCorps, we want to extend our appreciation to the thousands of AmeriCorps members who have supported those impacted by natural and manmade disasters. #AmeriCorps30
