It’s been a summer of milestones at WBDC! We recently hit 100,000 hours of technical assistance (classes and counseling) provided to women entrepreneurs. Thank you to the WBDC team, Board of Directors, volunteers, and partners who helped make this momentous achievement possible. And of course, thank you to Connecticut’s women entrepreneurs who inspire us every day! To learn more WBDC and the resources we provide, check out ctwbdc.org!

Empowering Women, Transforming Economies The surge of women entrepreneurs is redefining industries, and I'm proud to witness their impact firsthand in Connecticut through WBDC. Their talent and ambition are reshaping our economy and as highlighted in this Entrepreneur article, their innovation is undeniable. Yet, challenges persist in accessing capital, mentorship, and market opportunities. By creating a robust support system, we empower these visionary leaders and unlock the full potential of our economy. We’ve witnessed this time and again at WBDC. Take a look at our Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/e-RyUmXa

It’s always a good time when we’re together! This year’s summer staff outing was a ton of fun, filled with WBDC clients! We had delicious breakfast options provided by ChrisAnn Miller The Ital Juicery Company, created beautiful pressed flower art with Julia Meurice, Puale'a Floral, enjoyed chair massages with Theresa Crisci Total Balance Life Choice, and ended with a fantastic lunch at Black-Eyed Sally's Southern Kitchen & Bar, all in the fabulous city of Hartford, home to our soon-to-be-opened 5th office! Wish you could join in the fun while working in a job that creates measurable impact for CT women entrepreneurs? Become a member of the WBDC team! Great news for Connecticut’s child care provider businesses! At a press conference earlier this week, WBDC announced that our partnership with the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) has been renewed through 2027. This partnership, which began in 2020, brought to life the WBDC Child Care Business Support Program. Since then, we've worked with more than 1,800 of the state's child care provider businesses, helping them to create or retain more than 9,000 jobs and more than 38,100 child care slots in Connecticut. Meet Diane Sell, founder of Health in Motion Physical Therapy Diane's journey from caregiver to physical therapist began while caring for her mother during a breast cancer diagnosis, which, combined with her own recovery from sports injuries, ignited her passion for physical therapy. Frustrated by declining care at larger clinics, Diane opened Health in Motion CT, offering personalized 1:1 care to ensure every client receives her full attention. As a woman entrepreneur in physical therapy, Diane has faced biases and stereotypes in healthcare and business environments. Despite these obstacles, she strives to challenge norms and drive positive contributions to patient care and business innovation. Diane credits the WBDC Ignite grant with allowing her to purchase a Rehab Pilates Reformer, a valuable tool that has increased sales by 20%. “The WBDC marketing classes and mentoring system were invaluable,” helping Diane expand her online presence and making it easier for clients to find Health in Motion CT. Learn more about Diane's personalized physical therapy at healthinmotionct.com.
