InspireMSP has been named the 2024 Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award Winner! The Minneapolis nonprofit connects the power of imagination with the practice of exploration to create boundless opportunities that change lives and communities. They will receive a $71,000 grant from the Opus Foundation. To honor our founder's legacy of giving, we launched the Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award in 2015 along with the Opus Foundation. Fueled by unwavering optimism, Gerry demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and a commitment to finding a better way to build a business, along with a community and values-centered life. With an enduring belief that business has a responsibility to strengthen society, Gerry ensured giving back was a cornerstone of his business, and it remains at the core of our organization today. James "JR" Reynolds has been promoted to Vice President of Construction! The expansion to Our Lady of Grace School in Edina, Minnesota, was recently featured in Ascent, a quarterly publication of the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI). The 54,744-square-foot addition features preschool, kindergarten and middle school classrooms; meeting rooms; and a new parish activity center with a full-size gym, theater and locker rooms. Jeff Smith has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Construction. Jeff is responsible for managing all design-build construction operations in Iowa and more specifically new business development, oversight of complex project construction activities, and leadership of the project management team while prioritizing future pursuits and overall operational growth. Jeff joined our team in 1995 and has successfully delivered projects across multiple sectors, including most recently Climate by Design, Worldwide Logistics Headquarters and River Road Phase I and II. Over the years, Jeff has been instrumental in building the Des Moines team and has expanded its reach to other markets including Boise, Omaha and Decorah, Iowa. A small but mighty team in Indianapolis marked Founder’s Day by volunteering with Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity on a house project on the southeast side of the city. They focused on finish work inside the home, installing closet organization systems and trim work and exterior door painting. This was the last construction day before the final interior clean and exterior landscape work. After that, the house will be turned over to the homeowner, who was in attendance volunteering with the team. In support of this volunteer effort, the Opus Foundation awarded $5,000 to Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity. April 22, Founder's Day at Opus, marks the date back in 1953 when our founder, Gerry Rauenhorst, signed his first contract. This defining moment was the start of the construction business that evolved into The Opus Group of today.⁠ Gerry saw his business venture as a way to not only improve an industry and support his family, but also a means to improve and support his community. His commitment to community philanthropy became a priority and tradition engrained in our organization.⁠ We celebrate this day annually with company-wide volunteer events. We’re excited to work with Luther College on renovating the Gerdin Fieldhouse for Athletics and Wellness. This week, the College held a ceremonial wall breaking to kick off the work. The facility will have the Norse athletic department's headquarters, campus fitness, an aquatics center and more. This project includes expanding and renovating the current Regents Center. Corsa Apartments have been named a Finance & Commerce Top Project! Projects are considered based on “degree of difficulty, creativity in design, innovative construction techniques, cooperation among contractors and management and sustainability efforts.” Completed in October 2023 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Corsa is a 250-unit transit-oriented development that includes sustainable green features and 7,445 square feet of retail space. Corsa sits in an ideal location, adjacent to the Bass Lake Preserve and one block south of the Beltline Boulevard Station. Residents are just a short walk from trendy restaurants and retailers as well as Wolfe Park with walking trails, an amphitheater, picnic shelters, playgrounds and basketball and pickleball courts. The Minneapolis Chain of Lakes are less than two miles east. The five-story apartment building has studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as live-work units. 10% of the units are affordable to households earning 50% or less of the area's median income. #TheOpusGroup #DesignBuild #CommercialRealEstate
