In late July, golfers, philanthropists, and friends came together at The Club at Silver Lake in Perry, New York, to honor Katie Lynn Maiellano's legacy. In 2006, 22-year-old Katie, daughter of Tidal Basin's Linda Maiellano and her husband Michael Maiellano, tragically passed away in a car accident. The annual golf event raises funds for Katie's Star Memorial Fund, a nonprofit that supports organ donation awareness and financial assistance for uninsured medical expenses. Linda Maiellano shared, “Kate was a bright spark of a kid. She was loved by many and proudly focused on her work and career. When Kate passed away, Mike and I donated her organs and tissues - allowing our daughter's giving spirit to live on through others. We couldn't think of a better way to honor her. It's what she wanted us to do.” Linda recalls leaving the hospital and seeing a meteor shower above in the night sky and thinking, “That’s Katie, that’s Katie’s star.” Shortly afterward, Katie’s friends and family created the Katie's Star Memorial Fund. We are proud to continue sponsoring this year’s outing as a “Shooting Star” sponsor. As communities begin to assess the damage from Hurricane Debby, our hearts are with those affected by this storm. Tidal Basin is on the ground, working alongside the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) in their State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) to provide support and guidance during this challenging time. Staying informed and connected is crucial in dealing with the challenges ahead. Our partner, Local Relief, Inc., a nonprofit crisis communications mobile app that connects impacted residents with disaster relief resources in their local area, has also been providing support in the SEOC. If you’ve been impacted by Debby or want to be prepared for the next storm, download the Local Relief app, readily available on the Apple Store and Google Play. For more information about Local Relief, visit https://zurl.co/pkJE.  As we know, it takes a village to support the response and recovery efforts from these devastating storms. It’s been inspiring to see the level of support from the industry, including many of our partners and industry colleagues. We will continue to support Floridians in any way we can to help them recover stronger. Together, we will be Stronger than Before.   #HurricaneDebby #EmergencyResponse #DisasterRecovery

Tropical Storm Debby continues to pose significant threats. Potentially historic heavy rainfall is expected across eastern South Carolina through Friday, likely causing catastrophic flooding. Heavy rainfall is also anticipated to impact areas from northern North Carolina through portions of the Mid-Atlantic States and southern New England through Sunday morning. Storm surges and tropical storm conditions are expected to spread northward along the southeast US coast from northeastern Georgia to North Carolina through Thursday. Storm surge and tropical storm watches and warnings have been issued for these regions, and residents should heed all advice from local officials. In areas of Florida where Debby has already passed, there are still hazards such as downed power lines and flooded areas. Tidal Basin continues to monitor Tropical Storm Debby and is prepared to assist communities impacted by the storm. Stay informed and safe—visit our resource center for more tips and updates: https://zurl.co/vfy9 #TropicalStormDebby #ExtremeWeather #DisasterPreparedness
