U.S.-Africa Business Center President Kendra Gaither spoke to Newzroom Afrika from the African Growth and Opportunity Act Forum in Washington. Emphasizing how #AGOA —set to expire in 2025—has been the bedrock of the U.S.-Africa economic partnership for over two decades, Kendra stressed the benefits of this landmark Act and its mutual benefits to businesses in the U.S. and across Africa. “My job as a representative of American business is really to make sure that we are consistently conveying the same message about the priority that we place on a strong and vibrant relationship between the United States and [Africa.]” Watch the interview here: https://lnkd.in/eMSvW_BF

The U.S.-South Africa Business Council was pleased to welcome Hon. Minister Mpho Parks Tau, the new Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, and his delegation to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce- the first visit of an official representing #SouthAfrica's government of national unity. Alongside U.S. and South African private sector leaders from the Chamber and Business Unity SA, we were pleased to extend our congratulations to South Africa on its new government, learn more about the priorities of the 7th administration, and discuss ways to strengthen the #bilateral commercial partnership, including the importance of #AGOA and its timely reauthorization. We look forward to working closely with Minister Tau, our colleagues at AmCham South Africa, and our partners across South Africa to support public-private sector efforts to expand economic opportunity.
