Underscore's own partner and co-head of the beauty, fashion and lifestyle department Amanda Marzolf weighed in on Charli XCX's 'brat summer' and her revival of Von Dutch for WWD. "In the heyday of Von Dutch, at least through the paparazzied lens of celebrity, socialites like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan were stumbling out of clubs with a Von Dutch hat and their black bra strap showing, looking "lethally cool and free," Amanda Marzolf, partner and co-head of the beauty, fashion and lifestyle department at Underscore Talent, told WWD, adding that there was a "shamelessness to it that mesmerized the pre-social media world." "You can feel the same significance with 'Brat' right now, especially for Gen Z women in a nearly kindred way. The nostalgic urge to let it all go and let your bra strap show," Marzolf said. "[And] this resurgence feels right on time. Last summer was the year of Barbie, this time around it's the rise of 'Brat'. Women are empowered and the way to capitalize is to lean into key moments surrounding badass women like Charli XCX-women who embody the same unique fearlessness. Engage with music festivals and sustain by letting new and fresh creators make content inherently true to who they are." https://lnkd.in/gzPrehgR

Client Kareem Rahma was profiled in The New Yorker about his Subway Takes series! In the piece, Kareem says "This show isn’t about ‘talent, it’s about the take." Prioritizing of the people of New York over celebrity guests (which he turns down the majority of) is part of what makes Subway Takes and his other series so successful. https://lnkd.in/gs7fskVm cc: Jon Henson Chris Burns

We were thrilled to attend Cannes Lions 2024 with our incredible clients this year. The event was a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation, and the future of marketing and entertainment. Dan Weinstein, Austin Mayster, and AJ Nubla accompanied clients Alan Chikin Chow, Ian Boggz, Steven He, and Phaith Montoya, who were all invited guests. We asked Austin, who is a Partner and Co-Head of our Entertainment Division, for some key takeaways from his time at Cannes, and this is what he had to say: “This year, Cannes saw more creators in attendance than ever before, and they were more than just attendees, many creators were invited by brands and platforms, and appeared on panels and activations across the festival. It was fantastic seeing just how much brands and marketers are leaning in and embracing creators as essential parts of their businesses. AI was another buzzy topic and it is here in a big way. From creative ideation, copywriting, editing, to AI driven ad targeting and delivery, there are a lot of exciting AI advancements for marketers to leverage. However, the human touch remains crucial for the success of these projects. AI should be a tool in creative’s arsenals, not a replacement for them.” Austin’s insights are particularly relevant to us as representatives in the creator space. We're eager to integrate AI while maintaining the essential personal connection. We’re also perfectly positioned to set our clients up for success in this creator boom. The future of marketing is bright, and we’re ready to embrace it. #CannesLions2024 #creatoreconomy #digitalmarketing
