Despite the rain, hundreds of community members came out for the National Night Out in East Harlem! National Night Out, held on the first Tuesday in August, unites millions across the U.S. through block parties, festivals, and activities that foster positive interactions with law enforcement. Union Settlement was honored to receive awards from the NYPD 23rd Precinct and New York State Senator Jose Serrano at the event— a meaningful recognition for both our organization and the community we serve.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, marking the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans were informed of their freedom. This day honors the resilience of the African American community and commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. At Union Settlement, we are committed to empowering our community and advocating for social change. Join us in recognizing this historic day and continuing the fight for equality and justice. ✊🏽❤️🖤💚 Union Settlement is closed for the day. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #UnionSettlement #CommunityEmpowerment #EqualityForAll
