✨ Celebrating the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples ✨ Today, we recognize and honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of indigenous peoples around the world. Indigenous peoples represent the greater part of the world’s cultural diversity, speaking an overwhelming majority of the world’s estimated 7,000 languages and representing 5,000 different cultures. Why is preserving indigenous languages important? 🔹 Indigenous languages carry centuries of wisdom, traditions, and knowledge that are essential to cultural identity. 🔹 At least 370-500 million indigenous peoples live in communities all around the world. 🔹 Supporting indigenous languages empowers these communities, giving them the tools to preserve their unique traditions and pass them on to future generations. At United Language Group, we are committed to supporting the preservation of indigenous languages. We provide translation and interpretation services in a variety of indigenous languages, helping to ensure these languages continue to thrive. Some of the indigenous languages we support include: 🔹 Aymara 🔹 Cebuano 🔹 Hmong 🔹 Maori 🔹 Quechua 🔹 Samoan 🔹 Yoruba 🔹 Zulu Many indigenous peoples continue to face marginalization, extreme poverty, and other human rights violations. This makes providing language access to these communities even more crucial. Let's work together to honor and protect the linguistic heritage of indigenous peoples. ✨ What sets a top-tier translation service apart from the rest? ISO 17100 certification is one key factor. But what does that really mean? ISO 17100 is an internationally recognized standard that sets requirements for all aspects of the translation process. It covers the core processes, resources, and other aspects necessary for the delivery of high-quality translation services. Why should you care? Here’s what choosing an LSP certified to ISO standards gets you: 🔹 Quality assurance: ISO 17100 guarantees that translation services meet stringent quality standards, providing clients with reliable and accurate translations. 🔹 Consistency: The standard requires consistent processes and methodologies, so translations are delivered with uniform quality every time. 🔹 Professionalism: Certification means that our translators and project managers have the competencies and qualifications to handle complex translation projects. 🔹 Customer satisfaction: By adhering to ISO 17100 guidelines, we are able to consistently meet and exceed client expectations. United Language Group is proud to be certified to the ISO 17100 standard, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards in translation services. Healthcare payers and providers, are you prepared for the new HHS Section 1557 requirements? They strengthen and reinstate protections from discrimination in any health program or activity receiving federal funding. The new rule mandates: ✅ The use of only qualified translators and interpreters to prevent miscommunications and adverse health outcomes. ✅ Telehealth accessibility to make sure telehealth systems are accessible to individuals with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency. ✅ Review of machine-translated text by a qualified human translator to ensure accuracy, especially for complex or technical materials. ✅ Proving information in alternative formats such as large print, Braille, and audio for more effective communication with individuals with disabilities. These changes took effect on July 5, 2024, and you’ve got six months from that date to designate 1557 coordinators and a year to develop policies, procedures, and notices of available language assistance. 🔔 Our team at ULG is here to help you navigate these new requirements. Follow us for updates or contact us today for support in implementing your healthcare communications strategy. #Healthcare #LanguageAccess #Accessibility
