Throughout 2023, Urban Institute researchers have engaged in a close partnership with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) to help explore strengths, challenges, and areas of improvement for Georgia’s quality rating and improvement system. With perspectives from more than 1,300 child care center-based and home-based leaders and parents, the team has developed key findings and recommendations for DECAL. These recommendations are meant to inform #policy and operational decisions regarding Georgia’s #childcare and early #education quality rating and improvement system; however, the learnings have national implications for how these types of systems can better support equity.
