Today at WellMed and USMD, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth – a day that marks a pivotal moment in American history. On this day in 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in the United States were informed of their freedom, an event that took place two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a day of reflection, education, and advocacy. It's a day to recognize the ongoing struggle for equality and to celebrate the progress made towards diversity, equity and inclusion.
