A celebration of #NationalBlackWomenInSportsDay at the White House! #TeamWass had the honor of coming together with Diverse Representation and Black women from across the industry for this special celebration. The event included a panel discussion featuring Nneka Ogwumike discussing the experiences Black women face in sports, their many achievements and ways for greater representation going forward. Denise Melanson, VP, Global Social Impact & Community Engagement, recently joined members of Sound Future and Music Sustainability Alliance on the main stage at the Green Sports Alliance Summit. Speaking on the panel “Can Live Events Accelerate Innovation,” she discussed how producers of live events can develop new approaches to transportation, energy, waste, manufacturing and food to combat the challenges of the climate crisis. Understanding that this is critical to the future of live events, Denise stresses that this conversation is just the beginning, we all have a role to play in advancing sustainability. #TeamWass

This visit was a part of Equal Access’s artist and management development program, and an extension of mtheory’s commitment to provide training, resources and networking opportunities in the country music industry to underrepresented groups.
