The sports magazine released its first issue on August 16th, 1954 and since then has written the world’s most meaningful and iconic sports stories. In the July issue and in the coming weeks on SI.com, the magazine will explore how today’s athletes are pushing the limits of performance. SI will also take a look at current stars who got their first taste of fame upon appearing in the long-running segment Faces in the Crowd.
