Passionate about transforming attitudes toward aging.
About us
We don’t buy into the stigma of ageism. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a life of continued growth, experience, and meaning — and to pursue joy, regardless of physical, social, or economic circumstances. The experience of aging is shaped by each person — as they see it, define it, and experience it. To demonstrate our commitment to this belief, we have taken up the torch to be the most dynamic and inclusive champion to revolutionize the experience of aging. We serve residents of independent and assisted living, rehabilitation, and memory support. We also offer clients services including home care, adult day, home-delivered meals, and hospice. As a nonprofit organization guided by Christian compassion, we were founded more than 75 years ago as a place for aging Methodist ministers and their spouses to call home. Today, our services are delivered by 1,300 part- and full-time passionate team members throughout the state with a focus on creating opportunities to pursue joy!

Curious about how and why restaurateur Lynn Pritchard decided to align Hugo’s Wood-Fired Kitchen with WesleyLife Meals on Wheels? WHO 13 News' Michael Admire wondered that as well, and also had some questions about the hydroponic farm in our basement. This interview was the result! Learn more here about our commitment to combating food insecurity, and how our Prairie Meadows Hydroponic Farm and Hugo's help reinforce our dedication to the cause. Leaders from across the State of Iowa gathered earlier this week for the annual Iowa Hunger Summit hosted by the World Food Prize Foundation. Shannon Draayer, left, executive director of community nutrition for WesleyLife, joined them to share WesleyLife’s innovative approach to supporting nutrition though the Prairie Meadows Hydroponic Farm on our WesleyLife Meals on Wheels campus in Des Moines. We’re proud to be part of this statewide effort to combat food insecurity! #mealsonwheels #healthandwellbeing #hunger #worldfoodprize

We're extending a warm WesleyLife welcome this week to Kristy Rosenthal! Kristy joins us as executive director of WellAhead, our new, unique-to-this-market program designed for the 93 percent of people who want to remain in their homes as they age. Kristy, from the Des Moines area, brings a wealth of professional experience to the role with a well-rounded background in designing marketing solutions for Fortune 500 companies. But she beings something else to the position: extensive personal caregiving experience that has informed her choice to align with an organization whose work makes life better for clients and residents, and for the people who love them. "I felt like something was calling me to a role of more passion with greater impact," Kristy says. We think she's come to the right place! Look for much more from Kristy and the WellAhead team in the weeks and months ahead as they continue to roll out this exciting solution. #healthandwellbeing #wellahead #leadership #welcome #announcement

We are proud to announce that 5 of our Communities for Healthy Living have been named 5-star campuses — the highest possible rating — by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Congratulations to The Village in Indianola; Edgewater in West Des Moines; Park Centre in Newton; Fieldstone of DeWitt in DeWitt; and Halcyon House in Washington for being awarded this coveted accolade! (And congratulations as well to our many communities that were awarded 4 stars!) CMS created the highly regarded "star" system to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare communities more easily. CMS considers communities with 5-star designations to be leaders in the care they provide; 4-star communities provide care designated as "very good.") Choose WesleyLife's communities with confidence, knowing you or your patient, family member, or friend will receive the best possible services from communities that help to set the industry standard! #CMS5star #healthandwellbeing

Ready for his close-up! Lynn Pritchard, restaurateur and proprietor of Hugo’s Wood-Fired Kitchen on the WesleyLife Meals on Wheels campus in Des Moines, is photographed sitting for an interview this morning with Michael Admire from WHO-TV in Des Moines. Lynn is talking with Michael about his decision to affiliate with WesleyLife to help combat hunger in the Metro, and about the ways Hugo’s is a perfect complement to our mission and vision. Watch for the segment this week on Channel 13 in Central Iowa! Lynn Pritchard Michael Admire WHO 13

ADA Day was observed last week — a commemoration on July 26 of the 1990 signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by President George H.W. Bush. The ADA was the first comprehensive law in the United States to protect the civil rights of people with disabilities and prohibit discrimination based on mental or physical disabilities. The day also serves to raise awareness and break down barriers that people with disabilities face. At WesleyLife, the anniversary of the ADA signing serves as a reminder of the ever-increasing importance of the organization's DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging) platform and our ongoing efforts to expand and enhance it.
