Wherever there is a fight so that hungry people may eat, we will be there.
About us
Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit organization that is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to crises. Applying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served more than 400 million nourishing meals around the world. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need. We know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis. Learn more at wck.org.

Nadi Salem Awad Salout was killed by an Israeli airstrike on August 7 near Deir al-Balah, Gaza. He was a husband and a father of four young children and an integral part of WCK’s team. Colleagues who worked shoulder to shoulder with Nadi remember him as a honest, dedicated, and diligent teammate whose humor brought joy to everyone around him. One of our Palestinian colleagues, Nadi Sallout, was killed tonight near Deir al-Balah, Gaza. He was an integral member of our warehouse team from the early days of our response in Rafah and a humanitarian at his very core. We are still learning the details of this tragedy, but believe he was off duty at the time. Our thoughts and support are with Nadi's family and the rest of our dedicated team around the world as we mourn this tremendous loss. We will update our website as we learn more.

Introducing WCK’s Rapid Response Field Kitchen, which is at work for the first time in Fort White, Florida today supporting our Relief Team’s work to provide meals for families recovering from Hurricane Debby. This custom-designed truck is a swift, all-terrain vehicle that can quickly access hard-to-reach communities, carrying enough food and equipment to cook thousands of hot meals and distribute up to 1,500 sandwiches each day. The Rapid Response Field Kitchen, sponsored in part by Dollar General, will further WCK’s vision of providing nourishing meals the moment they are needed, wherever they are needed. Thank you, Dollar General, for supporting our mission, which so wonderfully aligns with yours in Serving Others! #WorldCentralKitchen #WCK #DollarGeneral #DG #ChefsForFlorida

During our conversation with some of the culinary leaders in WCK's Chef Corps we learned how chefs are championing causes they care about. The conversation featured the Southern Smoke Foundation’s Chris Shepherd, the Dalton School’s Jaz Johnson, and chef and restauranteur Anita Jaisinghani, focusing on how they are using their platforms to better their industry and their communities. Everywhere WCK responds to a disaster we purchase as much food locally as possible. In Grenada, we are working with local farms to source the freshest produce for our kitchens. This allows us to serve nourishing, culturally appropriate meals while supporting the economy as Hurricane Beryl recovery efforts are underway. #ChefsForTheCaribbean
