Wye River Upper School

Have you ever gone cliff diving? Silas '28 has! He spent part of the summer in Arizona exploring various National Parks and spending a lot of time in the water. Amazing opportunities await those who follow their interests and individual paths! We can't wait for him to continue his adventures back on campus with his feet on the ground!

WRUS students are keeping busy over the summer! In order of appearance: -Henry '28 and Luke '28 visited Hershey Park with Anna '28 and discovered their love of roller coasters! -Gavin '27 had the trip of a lifetime with the Boy Scouts to the Florida Sea Base High Adventure Camp where he stayed the week aboard a 24' Sailboat navigating the waters of the Florida Keys, fishing, snorkeling, and feeding the GIANT tarpon fish by hand! -Michaela '27 visited Discovery Cove in Florida where she got kisses from a dolphin and swam with sharks! She’s spent 3 weeks at Camp Pecometh in the CIT (counselor in training) and Late Night program and had a blast! Stay tuned to see some more of our students' summer adventures!

Collins '24 grew exponentially in his four years at Wye River Upper School and graduated as a true leader in our community. Adamant and creatively persuasive in his opinions, Collins fueled classroom discussion while respecting the views of others. He became more flexible in his willingness to try new things and considered alternative approaches to solving problems. Collins will attend the University of South Florida where he will study aerospace engineering and flex his out-of-the-box thinking even more. Wishing you all the best, Collins!

John C '24 exemplified success through determination and perseverance at Wye River Upper School. In 2020, John enrolled as a freshman and spent the next four years at WRUS studying with diligence, making friends, and setting an example of true moral integrity for his peers. John graduated from WRUS this spring as a dually enrolled student at Chesapeake College. Before graduation day, John acquired his Yamaha marine engine repair certification and plans to pursue a career in this field. We hope you find some time between work to go fishing and see some live music!

Ten years ago, Wye River Upper School moved into a new home at The Centreville Armory. Today, visitors to our campus ascend several steps up to the school’s main entrance. Few can match the unwavering energy and kind spirit that Bridon '24 exhibited day in and out at Wye River Upper School. Throughout his time at WRUS, Bridon was one of the first to extend a warm welcome to new members of the community, leading with a smile and a joke to brighten the day. He could often be found dancing, acting on stage, or touting the benefits of Wye River Upper School to passing admissions tours. Bridon showed us all what true friendship means, exemplifying empathy and loyalty to others. Bridon will enter his freshman year at McDaniel College this fall, where he plans to major in business. Please join us in welcoming a new student, Brady '29! Brady looks forward to sharing his love for animation and graphic novels with his new classmates. As you can see, Brady is also an animal lover, and can't wait to play catch with Archie! We are so glad that you are joining us, Brady!

Trent is a deep thinker who, over the last four years, demonstrated to his peers their right to ask questions and challenge convention. Trent's intellectual curiosity fueled his learning and enlivened the atmosphere of the classroom. For Trent, the importance of unearthing the reason why he is learning the topic at hand is as important as learning the topic itself. At WRUS, Trent shared his intellectual gifts as well as his friendship to our community and we will truly miss him next year. Trent leaves us to enter his freshman year in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at The University of Maryland. Good luck, Trent!
