Yelp has been leveraging AI for years to enhance user and business experiences. However, the emergence of LLMs and generative AI has ignited a new era of innovation, unlocking new possibilities. As TechCrunch's Anthony Ha writes, "In fact, most of the company’s recent announcements center on AI, whether that’s adding new AI-powered summaries or launching an AI assistant to connect consumers with service providers." In a conversation with Anthony, Yelp's Chief Product Officer, Craig Saldanha, emphasized Yelp's commitment to authentic reviews from real people, while also embracing an AI strategy. "We recognize that users come to Yelp to connect with either other users or pros, and they come because of the authenticity of our content, because they know it’s from actual human beings. We’ll never take that away," Saldanha explained. "So we use AI, essentially, to remove all of the friction to facilitate those types of connections."
