It's #ThrivingThursday at Cabana, and since August is wellness month, we're excited to share more top self-care tips and insights. Self-care is one of the best ways to achieve wellness, and you can do it for yourself every day. Let’s get into it. 'Self-care' and 'self-indulgence' often get mixed up. However, they are both valuable tools in maintaining our mental health. Our episode “Cancel self-care Sunday” on You’re Always Fine outlines the key differences. -Self-Care: Nurturing Mind, Body, and Soul [the long-term wellness play] -Self-care encompasses actions that foster emotional and mental well-being. It's an enduring investment in yourself. -Self-Indulgence: Fleeting Gratification [quick wellness hack] -Self-indulgence often involves activities that offer immediate pleasure. While enjoyable, it may not always contribute to long-term wellness. Deciding Between Self-Care and Self-Indulgence Knowing when to practice self-care versus self-indulgence is crucial for maintaining harmony: Opt for Self-Care When: -You're feeling overwhelmed and need coping mechanisms. -You aim to boost resilience and enhance well-being. -You seek to make lasting changes in your life. Choose Self-Indulgence When: -You need a break from your routine and need a desired treat. -You're celebrating accomplishments and wish to reward yourself. -You understand it’s an indulgence, not a habit. Striking a Balance The key is finding an equilibrium between self-care and self-indulgence. Integrating self-care into your routine is essential, but occasional self-indulgence can rejuvenate you. Recognizing the differences and knowing when each can improve your well-being leads to a more satisfying life. Ready to dive deeper into the differences between self-care and self-indulgence? Listen to the "You’re Always Fine" episode titled "Cancel Self-Care Sundays" and discover practical tips for making self-care a daily habit. https://lnkd.in/eGRWn99k Listen to the full episode on your favorite podcast streaming apps or head over to yourealwaysfinepod.com Let's embrace wellness every day, not just on Sundays. 🌟 WIth the 2024 Olympics in full swing, mental health support is as much a focal point as the athletes themselves. The stress of balancing training with personal responsibilities while facing the daily pressure to “be the best” is a constant sprint. Sound familiar? Employees often juggle countless responsibilities, mirroring similar demands. This leads to burnout, low morale, and increased turnover rates. 🏅Prioritize your team’s mental well-being and explore our Cabana Teams offering! https://lnkd.in/edz7B8_c Because every team needs support to perform at their best.

At the #SHRM24 conference in Chicago, we at Cabana introduced a simple yet impactful exercise at our booth: writing a letter or affirmation to our future selves. The idea was to mail these letters from Chicago so they’d greet us back home when we were back in the grind. 🔨 After my trip to Chicago & the #SHRM conference, I knew I was heading straight to Europe for a ten-day adventure, culminating in the Eras Tour. Traveling with chronic illness is no easy feat, and being away from my computer and desk for nearly two weeks was sure to bring some stress upon my return. 😬 So, while writing letters for others, I slipped one in for myself, knowing I’d need a reminder of encouragement when I returned. ⏩ Fast forward to today: I’ve been home for about nine days, finally sorting through all the mail, packages, and whatnot. Like that, there was my letter when I needed it the most. I had long forgotten about writing it, but its arrival was a simple yet powerful reboot for my mood and mindset. 💯 To everyone who stopped by our booth at #SHRM24 and received a postcard, I’d love to know how it impacted you 🙌 #SHRM2024 #MentalHealthMatters #FutureSelf #EmployeeWellbeing #HRCommunity #ChronicallyIll #TravelWithChronicIllness #MindsetMatters #LettersToSelf #CabanaApp #WellbeingInTheWorkplace #Resilience (the first photo is Cabana's CEO David Black dropping 170 postcards into the USPS box in #chicago & the second photo was my late-night adulting when I found my postcard, I wrote to myself)
